Illinois, the land of Lincoln and where the corn is knee-high by the fourth of July. The toddlers are knee high to a grasshopper. Sodas are called pop. Would you like to visit Chicago? There is a train that goes from O'Hara International Airport to Chicago. Take in a Chicago Cub at the Iconic Wrigley Field or White Sox baseball game. Or the Milwaukee Brewers is only two-hour drive North. While I am writing, I can just smell and taste a nice slice of Gino’s Pizza. Now I am listening to non-stop blues into Kingston Mines Blues Club which has two stages. You can go to iconic Buddy Guy’s Blues club as well. As I continue my journey of memories, I am watching “Phantom of the Opera” or “Man of La Macha at the Shubert Theatre (Now CIBC Theatre) with my mother whom I took to a concert yearly. Now my journey of memories takes me to the Sheds Aquarium where I feel like I am in Lake Michigan in the auditorium. Another museum is the Museum of Science and Industry walking through the tight walk through a German Submarine from WWII. Unfortunately, the submarine is not accessible for strollers or wheelchairs. I will continue down memory lane with you. Illinois has great historical sights. For example, the Former President Lincoln home and tomb. Or the Jane Addams Hull House where social work began. I can help you if you are doing college campus tours. Waukegan, Illinois where Jack Benny grew up. Waukegan is near Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois. I visited Nashville and Greenville, NC. In addition, I visited Rocky Mount and Nashville, Farmville and Greenville. I Visited the following cities and towns: Wilmington, Ocracoke, Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills, Raleigh, Durham, Washington, Bryson City, Farmville, Newbern, Kitty Hawk, Morehead City, Goldsboro, Greenville, Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Ashville and more. I am expert in North Carolina as I have spent much time there. Let us embark on a journey throughout North Carolina via my many magnificent memories. The state where if you want to have everything on your hamburger, you tell the beautiful server, “I want it all the way.” The foods you must have in North Carolina are North Carolina Barbeque and Chitterlings. Chitlins (or chitterlings) are cleaned, boiled, and sometimes fried pig intestines. North Carolina Barbecue is primarily featuring hickory-smoked meat seasoned with vinegar-based sauces. Most traveling requires an airport. I love RDU, Raleigh Durham Airport and Charlotte Airport where my journey in North Carolina began. At RDU, he car park is spacious. Arrive several hours early and eat at many restaurants. Carolina Craft is the one that I frequent at Raleigh International Airport. The first place I remember visiting is the USS North Carolina Battleship in Wilmington. I salute any member of the armed forces and their spouses and children. You have generously given gigantic and great sacrifices. I am amazed at how huge the ship is yet has very small compartments including the sleeping area. I cannot forget all the beaches in North Carolina. My favorite place is the Oregon Inlet Campground. Reservations are needed during the busy season. I now remember taking a picture of a double rainbow. The campsites are close to the ocean. The sunsets and the sunrises are spectacular. The campground is always clean. Another one of my favorite places is Nags Head. Kitty Hawk Kites is right across from Jockey Ridge State Park which is my favorite place to fly stunt kites. You can hang glide on the dunes. One side of the Ridge is the Bay; the other side is the ocean. Flying a kite during sunset is one of my favorite experiences. Speaking of Bays, do you know why seagulls do not fly over the bay. “They do not want to turn into bay gulls. (Bagels.) I apologize; I digress. Now I am thinking of the Durham Bulls baseball game in Durham. I can smell the tasty hot dogs and the peanuts. I do not know what it is, a hot dog or a brat tastes the best at a baseball park. North Carolina is a great place to go whitewater kayaking. In Bryson City, there is the Nantahala Outdoor Center. It is a safe place to kayak as the highest grade is three. I took a left on the river. Around the bend was the most incredible beautiful sight I have ever seen. At the end of the run are the Nantahala Falls. Don’t do what I did on my first trip. I went backwards by accident down the falls. I am remembering another wonderful experience. Taking a ferry to Ocracoke. I was entertained by a group of dolphins at the bow of the ferry and seagulls playing in the air currents created by the ferry’s movement. It is required to camp in the campgrounds and not on the beach. Charlotte is now coming to mind. Close together is The Charlotte Ballet Company and The McColl Center for arts on Tyron Street. You can watch a show at the Ballet Company and take a tour through the McColl Art Center. After the show or the tour, you can walk to Lottie's Café. A wonderful coffee shop. Places in Japan I visited included: Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Nagasaki, Hiroshima and Nagoya. I guided my parent for two weeds and planned my own excursions throughout Japan. A must have is the Japanese Rail Pass https://www.jrpass.com/ The transportation ticket must be purchased prior to going to Japan. At time of writing the cost is 7-day JR Pass: $344.00. Let me give you some reasons why Japan would be a great place to travel to. “World population and review” rates Japan as the ninth safest country in the World. All Japanese students are required to study English throughout their education. The people of Japan are very kind and always willing to help. One can travel throughout Japan and not need to rent a car because Japan has one of the best public transportation in the world. I do not recommend driving in Japan for two reasons. The people of Japan drive on the left-hand side of the road. Everything is kilometers per hour rather than miles per hour. There is a plethora of festivals throughout Japan throughout the year. Research the festivals and plan around the festivals. I can guide you to the dream of a lifetime in Japan. I can say that because I lived in Japan for nine months. I studied Japanese language, culture and arts at Nanzan University in Nagoya Japan. I also traveled the entire mainland Japan by bus or train. I stayed in hotels, visited the historical parks and places, dined in the restaurants, frequented the bars and hiked in the mountains. I recommend staying in the smaller hotels in the smaller cities. You will feel you have traveled back in time. Take off your shoes at the entrance of the hotel and walk on the traditional tatami (straw) floors. Sleep on the futon. (Japanese Bed on the floor.) Some small hotels may have the traditional Japanese toilet. This is like a small porcelain trench in the floor. One must squat to use the bathroom. It may be awkward at first. You will become an expert in a short time. Sit back and take a deep breath. Let us take a journey throughout Japan together via my spectacular memories. As mentioned, I studied at Nanzan University in Nagoya Japan. Everything is clean in Japan including Nagoya. Nagoya is a great city with plenty of shopping, nightlife, theaters and museums.Let us go to Tokyo on our virtual journey together. Imagine yourself going 150-200 miles an hour on the bullet train. You can’t get your head around traveling at this speed because the ride is very smooth. Don’t go to the zoo to see the Pandas. As of January 25, 2026, unfortunately, the Pandas were returned to China. Please research this if things have changed. The national sumo wrestling tournament occurs in January, May and September. See a traditional Japanese play called Kabuki. Traditional Japanese string instruments, deeply rooted in culture, include the 13-stringed koto (a zither, often considered the national instrument), the 3-stringed shamisen (a banjo-like lute), and the biwa (a short-necked lute). These instruments typically use silk or synthetic strings and are central to Gagaku (court music), Kabuki, and folk performances. You will be engulfed in traditional Japanese Culture. Two more traditional towns are Kyoto and Nara which were my favorite places in Japan. A tea ceremony in an old traditional wooden building is a must. Even though it has been a long time ago, I get relaxed just thinking about the tea ceremonies I participated in. A rule to remember, turn the bowl after sipping to make sure the next person does not sip where you sipped. Nara is simply beautiful It is the location of the largest wooden building in the world. Located inside the largest building in the world is the largest sitting bronze Buddhist statue. In the park there are numerous deer who have free range throughout the park. Purchase roasted Chestnuts for yourself and the deer. The deer are very persistent. No country is perfect. The only time I felt uncomfortable in Japan was when I was around the Japanese Mafia called Yakuza. If you see a group of men dressed in suits, look at their fingers. If a man of the mafia did not do, or did do, what he was supposed to do, part of a finger is chopped off. Thus, if you see a group of men in suits and one has part of his finger missing, just calmly leave the area. The Japanese Mafia are most notable around strip clubs. I recommend staying away from the sex industry in Japan, Who you going to call when you are thinking about going to Japan? Not Ghostbusters. Call Michael Behm of Carlisle Travel.

Micronesia, Tropical Island ParadiseThe Federated States of Micronesia is heaven on earth. I shall share some memories. I was there for five weeks. We flew into Hawaii and stayed overnight. Then we flew to Ponape Micronesia. There was one stop to refuel. I am sharing this, so you know what to expect. The place we stopped was a military base. We were told not to. Did I say not to. Do not leave the plane. I looked out the window. I say a man sitting on what looked like a jeep pointing a huge ugly looking gun at the plane. We got to Ponape. The trip was well worth the nerve-racking experience. We were greeted with a traditional festival. It began with a traditional woman’s choir wearing traditional attire. Warning, the traditional attire is that the older women were topless. Then we proceeded into a building. There were four big flat rocks on top of stones that were like legs of the table of flat rock. The men began the process of the traditional light sedative drink called sakau. It is made with the roots of the kava kava plant. The skin of the root is taken off. Then it is chopped into small pieces. Here is where the fun part starts. The root is then banged with rocks in rhythm. Then a group of women dressed in what reminded me of Tahitian dancers came out into the middle of the floor. They danced to the rhythm of the beating rocks. The entire experience was soothing. When traveling, you will find people do and eat different things. We then circled this huge bed of rocks that were heated by a fine underneath. A live pig was brought out. They slaughtered the pig. I caution you, there was a lot of blood. I have more respect for animals. They skinned the pig and took the entrails out like they prepared a fish. They put the whole big on the bed of rocks. Remember, people do and eat different things around the world. On each side of the pig was placed two dead dogs. The pig and two dogs were roasted on the rocks. We then had dinner. I ate this ground meat. I did not know what it was. I do not know if it was dog or not.A must in Micronesia is to go snorkeling. The water is very clear. We saw many colorful fish. I saw a solid blue starfish. We took a motorized boat ride to another island from Ponape. I looked at the stern, back, of the boat. Then I saw in the distance a huge whale’s tail. Keep in mind this was a motorboat like bass boat flopping in the waves. I then had an experience I have never had prior or after this event. I literally became speechless because I became so excited that I saw a huge whale’s tail. I turned to the person next to me and tried to tell her, “There is a whale’s tale over there.” No words came out. I could not talk. I just nudged her and pointed. Unfortunately, the rest is history. There was no whale’s tale anymore. When we got to the other island we did more snorkeling. We also climbed this huge hill. At the top of the hill was a waterfall. It was about twenty feet down to a pool of water. We jumped in the pool of water. (Don’t try this without a guide who knows the depth of the pool.)If you are planning to go to a tropical island, choose Micronesia. Choose Michael Behm to be your travel agent. My family always wanted to go to Disneyworld in Orlando. It finally happened. We also went to the everglades. I like how Michael thoroughly questioned what we wanted. He wanted to know how we would know that the vacation would be a dream vacation. Michael, you banged it out of the ballpark. Great Job.
I was planning to visit my friends near the Richmond area. I was wondering if I could take a little vacation that combined city life with an adventure tour. I noticed Michael lived in Richmond. I gave him a call. He was able to meet city life with adventure with flying colors. I flew into Richmond airport. Got a car rental. Then I went to the Holiday Inn. I the next day I rented a kayak in Richmond at the RVA Paddle Sport Store in Richmond. I drove to the Chickahominy Wildlife Management Area. The view was breath taking. I set up camp on a hill overlooking the river. I caught and released some fish. I drove back to Richmond Holiday Inn. I began the city life portion of my trip. I took in a Richmond Flying Squirrel minor league baseball game and a show at the Altria Theater. I had fine dining at the Lemaire restaurant. I never thought adventure and city life could be combined. Thanks to Michael it was. Who are you going to call for a travel agent. Call Michael Behm
For some reason my husband likes the Milwaukee Brewers. For our fortieth wedding anniversary, I wanted to take my husband to see a Brewers game. I was not familiar with Milwaukee. I saw that Michael lived in Illinois. I contacted him. Michael made all the airplane, hotels, and car rental reservations. I asked him for suggestions. He suggested the Safehouse restaurant, and to take in a show at the Riverside Theaters. These were excellent suggestions. The show was great and Safehouse was an experience I have never had before. By the way the Brewers won. My husband thourghouly enjoyed the trip. I get great happiness when my husband is happy. Thank you, Michael.
My husband and I have been talking about outer banks for a long time. We kept seeing people wearing shirts that said, “Outer banks”. We finally took the plunge. We noticed Michael lives in North Carolina. So, we picked him. His first message was, “Describe your dream trip to North Carolina. I will do everything I can to make that dream come true,” Let me tell you Michael did just that. He made all the hotel reservations, the flight reservations, and the car rental reservations. He recommended that we fly into Norfolk airport from Chicago. We stayed at the Marriot Hotel. We essentially made a loop through the Outer banks. We visited the Backbay Wildlife refuge for some bird watching and hiking, Then we went to the Wright Memorial Museum. After that, we went to Kitty Hawk kites. We purchased two kites. We went across the street to Jockey Ridge State Park to fly the kites. We also learned how to hang-glide. We went to the Avon fishing pier to do some fishing. We then drove to the south of the outer banks and took the Hatteras Ocracoke ferry and then to Cedar Island. We returned to Norfolk Airport. I highly suggest Michael to be your next travel agent.
My husband and I like to go to the Casinos throughout the United States. I found Michael on the website. I contacted Michael to see if he was aware of any good Casinos in the Midwest. Michael recommended Bally’s Evansville Casino. What a great suggestion. We flew in from Tuscan Arizona. We flew into Evansville Regional Airport. We rented an Enterprise car rental. We stayed at Bally’s hotel. Inside the Casino is Cavanaugh’s Restaurant. The food and customer service was exquisite. We had a wonderful time. All the reservations were made by Michael. I highly recommend Michael as your travel agent.
I visited family in Owensboro, Kentucky. I had to look on the map to figure out where Owensboro, Kentucky was because I sure did not hear about Owensboro Kentucky. Thanks to Michael, I had a great time there. The two must sees he suggested was the world’s largest sassafras tree in Owensboro. It is huge. The second must see was a great barbeque place called Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn. That was good eaten right there, I tell you what. Mmm mmm good. Thank you, Michael, for doing a phenomenal job. If anyone needs an excellent travel agent, contact Michael.
We flew into Seatle-Tacoma airport. We got a car rental from Hertz. We stayed at the Skybridge Seattle Airport Hotel. We had a nice rest to prepare for our exciting journey. Se went to the Space needle. Michael booked our tickets for us for the Space Needle. The next we went to Mount Rainier and did some hiking. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express close to Mount Rainier. The next day we went to Redwood Forest Park. Every moment of the trip was great. There were no problems. Michael did an excellent job.
My daughter wanted to visit University of Washington in Seatle. Michael booked all the flights, the hotels and the car rental. There were no glitches on our trip. We flew to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. We saw the campus and went to the Space Needle. Michel book the tower for us online. I am glad he told us. I did not know we had to buy tickets to go to Space Needle. Then we drove in our Enterprise rental car to the Redwood National State Park. The drive was incredible as the scenery was amazing. I can ramble on about our trip. The message I want to communicate is that Michael is an excellent travel agent.
Talk about a dream trip to Micronesia. It was breath taking. Michael planned the whole thing. We flew to Pohnpei Micronesia. Michael booked a wonderful hotel. We stayed at the Hide a Way bar and grill. The next day we went to a traditional festival. It was different than anything I have ever experienced. The girls had no tops on who sang. We saw a pig being butured, cleaned and put on a bed of hot rocks. I have more sympathy for pigs now. There were two dogs on the hot bed of rocks too. Dinner was sensational. While we were eating the men were making sakau in the center. Sakau is a mild sedative. The men first cut up some type of root and put the root on a flat rock. Then they beat the root in a rhythmical manner. Soon, ladies in traditional outfits began to dance a dance that looked like a hula dance. The rhythms created were great. Afterwards the men put the root into the bark and squeezed the juice in to bowls. We each got to sip the sakau. It takes some time to get used to it. One thing to remember, it is recommended not to drink the water. A suggestion Michael made is to carry a lot of bottled water. I think Michael saved us from having unpleasant experiences. Michael, you are great and we will be back. If anyone wants a great travel agent, contact Michael.
A fantastic trip to North Carolina I wanted to take a solo trip to North Carolina to get away as my girlfriend just broke up with me. I found Michael on the website and picked him because he lived in North Carolina. This trip was what the doctor ordered. I flew into RDU and rented an Enterprise rental car. I stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites, which was a wonderful experience. I drank a couple of brews at the Raleigh beer garden. I ate at the Angus Barn. I retired early to prepare for a fantastic journey in North Carolina. In the morning, I drove directly to Kitty Hawk. I went kite sailing which was a blast. I visited the Wright Brother’s Museum which was great. I just stared at the field where the first flight happened. I kept saying to myself, history was made here. Then I went to Kitty Hawk kites and bought a stunt kite. Michael talked about how great it was to fly a stunt kite at Jockey Ridge State Park especially at sunset. It was a beautiful relaxing experience. I then drove to the ferry to Ocroke and saw some dolphin playing at the bow and seagulls playing in the air. I camped at the Ocracoke campground. I took the ferry from Ocracoke and drove to Wilmington to see the USS Carolina. What a magnificent sight. I was having a great peaceful and relaxing time. When talking about my trip, Michael impressed upon me the importance of positive thinking. He said negative situations can turn into positive situations. I began to think. If my girlfriend did not break up with me, I would not have had this experience. I also would not have met Michael.
