Hawaii Island Travel Agent Expert

I’m a Hawaii-based travel advisor and connection-focused travel coach with nearly 30 years of local island experience. I specialize in custom itineraries for couples and families visiting the Big Island, Maui, Oahu, and Kauai. Since moving to Hawaii in 1996, the islands have become my home, my classroom, and my favorite place to explore. I’ve lived and traveled across every island, from the Na Pali coast of Kauai to Haleakala on Maui, from Oahu’s cultural heartbeat to the remote beauty of Molokai and Lanai. I even lived on Midway Atoll for a few months before making the Big Island my forever home.

What I Do

I help travelers choose the right Hawaiian island, design meaningful itineraries, book resorts and vacation rentals, plan inter-island flights, and secure experiences like manta ray dives, volcano excursions, cultural tours, and helicopter adventures. Because Hawaii is home, I know the nuances that matter: the quiet beaches perfect for kids, the best sunrise spots, the hidden food gems, and the seasonal timing that makes an itinerary feel effortless.

My Background

My journey in Hawaii began in the water as a marine biologist and scuba instructor. I am still an avid diver and now explore reefs and lava formations with my teen. My husband surfs, so much of our family life revolves around the ocean, beach time, and a balance of rest and adventure. When I’m not in the water, you’ll find me hiking volcano trails, biking coastlines, or watching a Big Island sunset.

What Makes Hawaii Special

Every island carries its own personality.

Kauai feels wild and timeless. Maui blends relaxation, luxury, and adventure.

Oahu offers culture, food, and world-class surf.

The Big Island brings astonishing variety; lava fields, lush valleys, waterfalls, manta rays, and an active volcano all in one place.

Molokai and Lanai offer a slower, more intimate pace of life.

Because I’ve lived here for decades, I can match travelers with the experiences that fit them best, whether they want connection, adventure, family ease, or simply a breath of space from daily life.

My Approach

I believe travel should feel intentional and connected. My coaching background helps me design trips that support couples and families not only in where they go, but in how they travel together. Some clients want a relaxed-paced, family-friendly escape. Others want romance or adventure. Many are seeking reconnection or clarity. Hawaii offers room for all of it.

Examples of What I Plan

  • Island selection (which island fits your travel style)
  • Custom day-by-day itineraries
  • Resort and vacation rental bookingsFlights and inter-island logistics
  • Snorkeling, surfing, diving, hiking, and cultural experiences
  • Luau, manta ray, helicopter, and volcano tours
  • Slow-paced, connection-focused travel days
  • Family trips with teens
  • Couples’ retreats or milestone trips

Why Travelers Choose Me

I know Hawaii deeply, not just the top attractions, but the seasons, small details, and authentic experiences that most visitors miss. I listen closely to what people hope for, then build itineraries that balance their wishes with the natural rhythm of the islands. These aren’t just vacations. They’re meaningful moments that become part of your story.Whether you dream of diving with manta rays, watching lava glow under the night sky, exploring Hawaiian culture, or simply slowing down together, I’d love to help you experience a trip that feels unforgettable, aligned, and true to the islands.

Fiji: Where Adventure Meets Tranquility

Fiji is one of those places that feels like it was designed for both adventure and connection, a destination that somehow gives you adrenaline, peace, and joy all at once. When my family and I traveled there, we made our way to the northern tip of Viti Levu where we experienced some of the most epic diving of our lives. Dropping below the surface, we found ourselves surrounded by coral reefs so vibrant it felt like swimming through a living painting, with schools of tropical fish flashing past us in every direction. My youngest was too small to dive but snorkeled happily at the surface, pointing and laughing every time something colorful swam by, while the rest of us explored the depths together. The beauty of the underwater world there is something I’ll never forget, and it is the kind of experience that binds you as a family, sharing wonder in real time. Everywhere we went in Fiji, we were met with kindness and warmth and "Bula!" the traditional greeting. The people welcomed us with smiles that made us feel instantly at home, and their generosity of spirit made every encounter meaningful, whether it was sharing kava in a traditional ceremony, listening to stories passed down for generations, or simply chatting at the market. My husband, who is a surfer, had his own dream come true in Fiji. Surfing Cloudbreak had been on his bucket list for years, and every day he paddled out into those legendary waves with the biggest grin on his face. While he chased waves, the rest of us stayed at an all-inclusive resort nearby where there was more than enough to keep us entertained. The kids made fast friends in the pool and on the beach, I relaxed in ways I didn’t even realize I needed, and when he came back from the surf, we would all come together again over long dinners with the ocean as our backdrop. It was the perfect balance of everyone getting what they wanted while still sharing the trip as a family. One of the highlights for me was the shark dive in Beqa Lagoon. Dropping into the water and seeing those powerful, graceful animals glide past was an unforgettable thrill, a mix of awe and adrenaline that made me feel alive in every sense of the word. And all the while, the backdrop of Fiji was almost surreal in its beauty, from pristine beaches that seemed to stretch on forever to lush rainforests alive with birdsong. No matter where we were, whether hiking through greenery, drifting on calm blue water, or simply watching the sun sink into the sea, I kept thinking there was no place on earth quite like it.Fiji is the kind of destination where families and couples alike find connection comes naturally. You can spend your days swimming above coral reefs, pointing out flashes of fish to each other, or riding waves with laughter echoing above the water. You can slow down and immerse yourself in the island’s warm and welcoming culture, from sharing kava in a village to joining in meke dances where everyone is treated like family. Conversations flow more easily here, stretched out by the island’s unhurried pace and the genuine warmth of the people you meet. In the comfort of Fiji’s many resorts, mornings start with lingering breakfasts by the ocean, afternoons are filled with a mix of adventure and relaxation, and evenings bring the joy of sunset cocktails, new friendships, and the easy togetherness that comes when the distractions of everyday life fall away. Whether you’re seeking the rush of world-class diving and surfing, the magic of exploring rainforests and waterfalls, or the stillness of simply sinking your toes into soft sand, Fiji offers the perfect balance. It’s a place where families grow closer, where couples rediscover each other, and where you carry the island’s warmth home in your heart long after you leave.

Zermatt, Switzerland: Fairytale Meets Adventure

Picture your family standing at the base of the Matterhorn, its jagged, snow-capped peak piercing the sky. It is one of those views that stops you in your tracks, the kind of sight that can make even the most screen-addicted teenager forget about TikTok for a while. Zermatt really does feel like a living postcard, a place where every photo looks like it belongs on a magazine cover.

In summer, wildflower meadows spill across the mountainsides, dotted with grazing cows whose bells echo gently through the valleys. The air feels impossibly fresh, with the faint scent of pine carried on the breeze. Hop aboard the Gornergrat Bahn, the old cogwheel train, and watch as glaciers and endless peaks unfold in front of you. In winter, Zermatt becomes a playground for skiers and snowboarders, with the unique thrill of gliding over the border into Italy for lunch and then returning to Switzerland for dinner.

The village itself is unlike anywhere else. With no cars allowed, the pace is calmer and quieter. You hear the clip-clop of horse-drawn carriages and the soft whir of small electric taxis. Cobbled streets weave past centuries-old wooden chalets, their balconies spilling with flowers in summer. It feels safe and welcoming, a place where kids can build snowmen or explore playgrounds with the Matterhorn towering in the background like a fairytale castle.

I still remember my very first time skiing in Zermatt. Standing at the top of the beginner piste, I felt nervous and excited all at once, convinced I would spend more time in the snow than on my feet. And yes, there were plenty of falls, but also that unforgettable rush when I finally made a few wobbly turns, snow sparkling in the sun all around me. Later, I tried snowshoeing through the forest. The trail wound quietly between tall pines, and the crunch of snow beneath my boots was the only sound. For a while, it felt like the whole mountain belonged just to me.

And then, of course, there was fondue. My very first pot of bubbling Swiss cheese fondue was here, in a cozy chalet after a long day outside. We dipped bread and potatoes into the rich, gooey cheese while snowflakes drifted past the windows. It was simple and hearty, but also one of the most memorable meals of my life, a tradition that makes you slow down and savor the moment.Zermatt is more than just a mountain resort. It is a place where adventure and wonder blend so easily that every day feels like a new story waiting to be written. Whether you are carving down the slopes, hiking through fields of wildflowers, or laughing with friends over fondue, this little car-free village at the foot of the Matterhorn has a way of turning simple experiences into lifelong memories.

Hawaii Travel FAQ

How do you help people choose the right Hawaiian island?

I start by learning your travel style, pace, interests, and the type of experience you want. Then I compare each island’s personality, from the adventure and diversity of the Big Island to the beaches of Maui, the culture of Oahu, and the quiet beauty of Kauai. From there, I help you choose the island that fits you best.

Do you plan full itineraries or just book hotels and flights?

I do both. Many clients choose a full custom itinerary that includes lodging, inter-island flights, activities, restaurants, beaches, and daily pacing. Others simply want help with hotels and logistics. I tailor the planning to what you need.

What is the best time of year to visit Hawaii?

Hawaii is beautiful year-round, but the best time depends on your priorities. Winter is great for whales and waves. Summer offers calm ocean conditions for snorkeling. Spring and fall provide the best mix of weather and value. I help you choose based on your goals.

Do you book activities like manta ray dives, luaus, volcano tours, and helicopter rides?

Yes. I help you choose trusted local operators, secure reservations, and time activities wisely so the day flows well and avoids crowds.

Can you help if my partner and I have different travel styles?

Absolutely. This is one of my specialties. I design itineraries that balance rest and adventure and give each partner what they love, while also creating shared moments that bring you closer.

Do you work with families who have teens?

Yes, very often, I have a teen so I completely "get it". I plan age-appropriate activities, mix downtime with adventure, and build itineraries that help teens feel engaged rather than dragged along.

What makes you different from other travel advisors?

I have lived in Hawaii since 1996, and I know each island deeply. I understand not just the attractions, but also the seasons, hidden gems, and small details that make a trip feel effortless. I also blend travel planning with connection-focused coaching so your trip supports both joy and reconnection.

What is included in a custom itinerary?

Island selection, lodging recommendations, day-by-day plans, beaches and hikes, restaurant suggestions, cultural experiences, activity bookings, driving routes, hidden gems, and insider timing tips that only a local would know.

Do you only plan Hawaii trips?

Hawaii is my specialty and home base, but I also design meaningful journeys around the world for couples and families who want connection, adventure, or time to reconnect.

How far in advance should I start planning a trip to Hawaii?

Ideally 6 to 9 months ahead for peak seasons and holidays and 3 to 6 months for everything else. I can help on any timeline, but the earlier we start, the better the options will be.

Can you help us decide between Maui, Oahu, Kauai, and the Big Island?

Yes. Each island offers something different. I walk you through the differences in pace, activities, climate, and vibe so you can confidently choose the island that matches your travel style.

What is intentional travel and how do you incorporate it?

Intentional travel means designing a trip not only for activities, but also for how you want to feel, connect, rest, and return home. I use my background in coaching to create travel days that flow, nourish relationships, and allow space for meaning and memories.

Chile: Penguins, Pumas, and Starry Skies

Chile will always be one of the most meaningful places in my life because it was the first big trip I ever took with my husband, back before he was actually my husband. We were still figuring out who we were to each other when we boarded that flight, and by the time we returned home, we knew without question that we had found something real. I can still picture him surfing at Point Lobos, strong and joyful in the waves, while I stood on the beach in awe of both him and the wild beauty of Chile’s coast. We wandered the steep streets of Valparaíso, surrounded by bright murals and colorful houses that seemed to spill down the hillsides, and we lingered in Vina del Mar, strolling along the water as the wind tangled our hair. We signed up for cooking classes, laughing as we fumbled through new recipes, and we drank far more wine than I’ll ever admit, each glass shared with smiles and stolen glances across the table. That trip changed us. We arrived as more than friends and left as certain partners, knowing that this was the start of our forever. Maybe that’s why I believe so deeply that Chile has the power to create connection. It’s a country where the Andes meet the ocean, where landscapes shift from deserts to glaciers, and where every corner feels alive with possibility. You can trek through ancient forests one day, watch penguins waddle along the shore the next, and still end your evening under skies so full of stars they look endless. In Pucón, I remember sitting by a crackling fire, talking late into the night while the mountain air drifted in, and thinking, “this is what it feels like to really be present with someone.” You can kayak alongside sea lions in the morning, sip hot chocolate with a volcano view in the afternoon, and end the day strolling hand in hand through sunlit vineyards, tasting wines that carry both history and heart. Families find their own kind of magic here too, whether climbing sand dunes in the Atacama, laughing over a plate of empanadas that disappears too quickly, or keeping eyes wide open on a search for pumas in Patagonia. What I love most about Chile is its contrasts: rugged coastlines and sophisticated cities, deserts that stretch to the horizon and glaciers that crack and roar, the way a single day can hold both adrenaline and intimacy. For couples, it’s the perfect place to laugh, wander, and remember why they fell in love. For families, it’s a chance to unplug from everything else and discover joy together, whether hiking, sharing a meal, or just looking up at stars brighter than you imagined possible. Chile isn’t just a destination for me. It’s the place where I fell in love, and every time I help someone plan their own journey here, I hope they return home carrying that same spark of connection that changed my life.

Costa Rica: Zip-lining, Hot Springs, and Sloths

Where monkeys photobomb your selfies and sloths quietly judge your hiking attire, Costa Rica invites you to slow down and notice life together. The country is wild and alive, yet peaceful at the same time, a place that asks you to put the phone away and simply look around. I remember hiking on the Osa Peninsula, the air heavy with the scent of rain and earth, when suddenly a flock of scarlet macaws burst overhead, their wings flashing red and yellow against the green canopy. A moment later, a toucan landed on a branch nearby, cocking its head as if to pose for us, and I realized how lucky we were to witness such beauty side by side. That trip also took me to Tortuguero, where we explored the winding canals by boat. The water was so calm that every reflection of the jungle looked like a painting, and everywhere I looked, something was moving: a caiman slipping silently into the river, monkeys leaping through the branches, birds in every imaginable color. Further inland, rafting through churning white water became a mix of teamwork and laughter, paddles clashing, voices rising over the roar of the rapids, and then the calm stretches afterward when we drifted together in silence, letting the jungle surround us. And of course, no trip to Costa Rica is complete without standing in awe at the base of a volcano. The one we visited loomed huge and powerful, steam curling from its side, a reminder of the raw energy that shapes this landscape. These are the kinds of moments Costa Rica gives so generously, the kind that stitch people together in ways that screens and schedules back home never can. Picture yourselves relaxing on sandy shores, phones tucked away, watching surfers carve through the waves or sea turtles gently nesting under the stars. Imagine zip-lining through the jungle canopy, laughter echoing between the trees, then soaking in volcanic hot springs, sharing stories that flow more easily than they have in years. Hidden waterfalls wait down winding trails, each discovery feeling like your family’s own secret. Conversations come naturally when they are set against the backdrop of rushing water and the calls of exotic birds, and the rhythm of daily life seems to fall away as you lean into something simpler. Costa Rica lives by “pura vida,” a way of being that values presence, gratitude, and joy in small moments, and it is impossible not to feel it seep into your own rhythm while you are here. For couples, it might mean walking barefoot along the beach at sunset, remembering how it feels to laugh together. For families with teens, it might be the thrill of a shared adventure that finally makes them forget their phones. For young families, it might be the wonder in a child’s eyes when they spot a monkey swinging above them or taste tropical fruit for the first time. Whatever form it takes, Costa Rica has a way of bringing people back to each other, of reminding us that the world is wide, beautiful, and worth experiencing together. It is a place where families can reconnect with each other, with nature, and with the joy of being fully present; and those are the memories that last long after you’ve returned home.

Egypt: More Than Just Mummies

Egypt is one of those places that stays with you forever. It isn’t just about the monuments or the history, though those are incredible, it’s about the way the country makes you feel as you travel through it. I remember the first time I stood in front of the Great Pyramids of Giza, craning my neck to take it all in, and thinking to myself, “these can’t possibly be real.” But they were, and so were the tombs in the Valley of the Kings where the walls are still alive with color thousands of years later. Traveling up and down the Nile was like resetting my own timeline, connecting each temple and tomb to everything I had ever learned in school, but this time seeing it right in front of me instead of in a book. Some of my favorite memories are the smaller, quieter moments. Sailing slowly down the Nile on a traditional boat with the breeze on my face and kids waving from the banks, or wandering through the markets in Cairo where the smell of spices (and dust!) hung in the air and shopkeepers pulled me in with smiles and laughter. I still remember holding a cup of turkish coffee while weaving my way through stalls filled with lanterns, scarves, and handmade treasures, the noise and the colors and the chaos all wrapping together in a way that felt so alive.Egypt also gave me some of my most memorable adventures. I went diving in the Red Sea off the Sinai, and it was like entering another world; coral gardens blooming with color, fish darting past in every direction, and then the chance to do a liveaboard trip to the Thistlegorm, a shipwreck full of history where trucks, motorcycles, and supplies still rest as if time stopped. Hiking Mount Sinai at sunrise was another moment that changed me. We climbed in the dark, flashlights bobbing on the trail, and when we reached the top the whole world turned gold as the sun spilled over the desert. I’ll never forget the silence up there, the feeling that I was standing in a place that had shaped so much human history. And then there was the desert itself, vast and endless, where the night sky blazed with more stars than I had ever seen. For families, Egypt is magic. Imagine standing together in front of the pyramids, or watching your kids’ faces light up as they see hieroglyphs for the first time, or laughing together while snorkeling over coral reefs in the Red Sea. Couples will find their own kind of wonder, whether it’s sharing wine after a long day exploring, sitting hand in hand as the sun sets over the desert, or simply getting lost together in the winding streets of a Cairo market. What I love most about Egypt is that it offers both adventure and intimacy. One day you’re crawling into an ancient tomb, the next you’re floating lazily down the Nile with nothing on your mind except the moment you’re in.Egypt isn’t just about checking sights off a list. It’s about the way time slows down, the way wonder pulls you together, and the way memories stick to your heart long after you’ve gone home. When I think back on my trips there, I don’t just remember the pyramids or the temples, I remember who I was with, the conversations we had, and how small and connected I felt standing in a place so old and so full of life. That’s the Egypt I want to share with others, the one that changes you, that brings you closer to the people you’re traveling with, and that leaves you with stories you’ll treasure forever.

Hawaii: Volcanoes, Turtles and Shave Ice

The Hawaiian Islands are a place where "family vacation" transforms into something far more magical than just beach towels and sunscreen. Here, building sandcastles isn’t just a pastime. It’s a full-scale engineering endeavor that ends in dramatic ruin as the tide rolls in, often accompanied by a few toddler tears and sandy tantrums. It’s where you swap your morning coffee for the thrill of catching your first wave, right alongside a honu, those graceful green sea turtles who seem to surf better than anyone in your crew (yes, even better than Uncle Joe, who insists he was "totally awesome" in the ‘80s). Venture into lush rainforests that smell like fresh earth and adventure. You'll hike beneath canopies of ancient trees, stumble upon waterfalls that seem like they’re straight out of a dream, and almost certainly lose at least one flip-flop to the mud. You might gain a mosquito bite or two, but that’s the price of paradise, right?

Each island is like a chapter from a storybook, waiting for your family to turn the page. On Hawai‘i Island, you can peer into the smoldering heart of Volcanoes National Park, where molten earth bubbles and steams beneath your feet. Over in Maui, dive into the deep blue for a night snorkel with graceful manta rays, whose wingspans are nearly as wide as your sense of wonder. Try not to squeal too loudly into your snorkel. Then there's Kaua‘i, the Garden Isle, where hidden waterfalls tumble from emerald cliffs and chirping birds serenade your every step. It's as close to a real-life Jurassic Park as you can get, minus the dinosaurs, thankfully. You may discover a few friendly spiders instead. They’re harmless, promise. On O‘ahu, explore the rich tapestry of Polynesian culture, from fire dancing and hula to historic royal palaces and sacred sites. Just remember, a luau is a feast, not a limbo contest (though no judgment if you want to try both). And on the quiet, unspoiled beaches of Lana‘i, you can truly unplug, unwind, and let the island lull you into bliss. That is, until your kids decide to bury you up to your ears in sand.

As someone who has lived in Hawai‘i for years, I know that the magic of these islands isn’t just in the sights. It’s in the stories you create. My goal is to help you go beyond the guidebook. Whether you're craving local food trucks with the best garlic shrimp, secret hiking spots with zero crowds, or cultural experiences that leave you inspired, I’m here to craft your dream vacation. You bring the curiosity and sense of adventure. I’ll take care of the rest, so you can chase rainbows, collect seashells (and stories), and return home with memories so vivid, you'll swear you can still hear the ukulele in the breeze.

So, what island are you dreaming of first? ??

Maui: Beach Bliss Meets Family Bonding

Maui is the island where your family can go from sunrise magic to beachside naps without breaking a sweat (well… maybe just a little). There is something unforgettable about starting your day above the clouds at the summit of Haleakala. The journey begins in the dark, when the stars still blanket the sky and everyone shuffles sleepily into the car at 3 a.m., clutching blankets and snacks. The drive winds up the mountain in quiet anticipation until, at last, you find yourself standing nearly 10,000 feet above sea level. Then, slowly, the horizon begins to glow, painting the sky in shades of pink, orange, and purple as the sun peeks above the clouds. It feels otherworldly, as if you have front-row seats to the birth of a new day. The kids may grumble about the early wake-up call, but once they see that view, all complaints are forgotten. It is pure magic, and yes, it is worth it every single time.

After sunrise, the adventure continues with Maui’s most famous drive: the Road to Hana. This winding road hugs cliffs and dips into lush valleys, each turn revealing waterfalls, bamboo forests, and ocean vistas that will make your jaw drop. In the backseat, the kids might chime in with “Are we there yet?” but before you can answer, another waterfall or rainbow appears and the chorus changes to “Whoa, look at that!” Stop for warm banana bread at a roadside stand, stretch your legs at hidden beaches, and embrace the journey as part of the destination. The Road to Hana is not just a drive—it is a family adventure full of stories waiting to be told.

When it is time to slow down, Maui has plenty of family-friendly beaches where the waters are calm and the sand is soft. Napili Bay and Baby Beach are perfect spots for little ones to splash safely while parents relax under swaying palms. Or, head out on the water for a boat tour, where playful spinner dolphins often leap alongside the bow, delighting kids and adults alike.

What makes Maui truly special is its balance of wild nature and modern comfort. You can chase waterfalls in the morning, nap poolside in the afternoon, and finish your day with a beachfront shave ice while the sun sets over the Pacific. For families seeking adventure wrapped in convenience, with a dash of tropical indulgence, Maui is the island that has it all.

Kauai: Get Lost and Get Found Again

The magic of Kauai is unmatched. There’s a rhythm to this island that slows the heart and clears the mind. It is wild but gentle, dramatic yet peaceful, and compact enough to explore from coast to canyon in a single day. Still, no matter how many times I visit, it never feels like enough.

The Na Pali Coast is where wonder lives. Hiking the Kalalau Trail, perched high above those jagged green cliffs, you feel like you’ve stepped into the pages of a myth. Waterfalls spill down sheer walls into valleys filled with mist, while the ocean crashes against hidden beaches far below. Seeing it from a boat or kayak offers another kind of magic. The scale of it all, from the sea caves to the soaring ridgelines, reminds you how powerful and ancient this landscape truly is. It is not just scenery, it is something that stays with you.

Not far away, Waimea Canyon opens up like a secret turned inside out. Deep rust-red gorges cut through emerald hills, revealing a landscape you wouldn’t expect on a tropical island. The hiking here is surreal, with trails that lead to sweeping overlooks, through forests of native trees, and alongside streams that become waterfalls. The views stretch for miles, and sometimes the clouds roll in just enough to make it all feel otherworldly. It is peaceful, quiet, and full of that kind of awe you can’t quite describe. When I want a different pace, I head to the rivers. Kayaking the Wailua River feels like entering a lush, green dream. The water winds past jungle thickets, ancient Hawaiian sites, and places where the only sounds are birdsong and the gentle rhythm of the paddle. There’s a stillness here, a sense that the island is revealing one of its softer secrets.

And then there are the beaches. From the golden sands of Hanalei Bay to the remote beauty of Polihale, each one feels like a reward. Some are perfect for swimming, others for resting in the shade and listening to the waves. Sunsets here are something else entirely. The sky turns molten, the ocean reflects every color, and for a few long minutes, the world feels beautifully still.

Kauai is my favorite island (other than my home of Big Island) because it offers everything I crave in travel, adventure, solitude, natural beauty, and connection. It is a place that never feels rushed, where you can go from a cliffside hike to a river paddle, then end your day with toes in the sand and stars overhead. Every visit deepens my love for it, and every goodbye feels like a quiet promise to return.

Oahu: Big Fun, Big Waves, and Big Smiles

Oahu is where family vacation meets action-packed variety. One day you are splashing in Waikiki’s gentle surf, building sandcastles between surf lessons, and the next you are standing quietly at Pearl Harbor, teaching the kids a history lesson they will actually remember. The island balances fun and meaning in a way that few places can. Climb to the top of Diamond Head, where the panoramic view of Honolulu and the sparkling Pacific is worth every step. Snap that group photo at the summit—it is one of those rare shots the whole family will want to frame. Afterward, trade hiking boots for flip-flops and head to the Honolulu Zoo or the Waikiki Aquarium, where little ones can spot tropical fish and playful monk seals up close.

Head north and the vibe changes. The North Shore is famous for its monster winter waves, a spectacle in itself, but in summer it transforms into calm, swimmable coves where kids with goggles and fearless hearts can snorkel and swim safely. Grab a plate lunch from a roadside food truck, then stop to watch sea turtles basking on the sand at Laniakea Beach. Just down the road, the Polynesian Cultural Center brings Hawaiian and Pacific Island traditions to life. Kids will be wide-eyed watching fire dancers twirl flames against the night sky, or learning to weave a coconut frond into something they can take home.

And of course, there is the food. From malasadas dusted in sugar to rainbow shave ice dripping with tropical flavors, O?ahu makes sure even the pickiest eaters eat with joy. Parents can dive into garlic shrimp trucks on the North Shore or sample poke bowls fresh from the ocean. Each meal feels like a mini-adventure.

That is what makes O?ahu so special. Between museums and memorials, beaches and botanical gardens, food trucks and city comforts, there is something for every member of the family. The island delivers both excitement and ease, with just enough chaos to make the memories unforgettable. Whether you are watching a sunset on Waikiki Beach or chasing waterfalls deep in the mountains, O?ahu is the island that proves family vacations can truly have it all.

Lanai: Peace, Play, and Zero Crowds

If your idea of a perfect family vacation includes quiet beaches, quality time, and minimal screen time, Lanai is your hidden gem. This little island is often overlooked in favor of its busier neighbors, but that is exactly what makes it so special. Life here moves at a gentler pace. There are no traffic lights, no bustling freeways, and barely any crowds. What you will find is room to breathe, space to wander, and plenty of opportunities to reconnect with each other without constant distractions.

On Hulopoe Beach, children can run free across the golden sand while parents sip their morning coffee in peace. The calm waters sparkle in the sun, and tide pools at the edge of the bay act like natural aquariums. Peek in and you’ll discover sea stars clinging to rocks, tiny fish darting in and out, and spiky sea urchins resting quietly in the shallows. It is the kind of hands-on discovery that captures a child’s imagination far more than any iPad ever could.

Adventure here is wonderfully simple. Pile the family into a Jeep and head off on a 4x4 trek to the Garden of the Gods, or Keahiakawelo. This surreal, rocky landscape is often compared to Mars, with rust-colored boulders and strange formations that seem otherworldly. The drive itself feels like part of the adventure, bumping along dirt roads with wide open skies above and not another soul in sight. Kids love the sense of exploration, while parents can savor the quiet beauty of a place that feels untouched by time. And when you return from exploring, Lanai offers more than just simplicity—it offers indulgence. Families staying at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai can enjoy the best of both worlds: tranquility with touches of luxury. Picture yourself relaxing by an infinity pool with ocean views while your kids take part in fun cultural activities through the kids’ program. Evenings might include a couples’ spa treatment while the little ones enjoy movie night, or a family dinner where everyone gathers around a table to share fresh island cuisine under the stars.

At the end of the day, Lanai is about slowing down. Play card games together in your room, share stories from the day’s adventures, or simply watch the sunset melt into the horizon. The best part? You will not find rows of selfie sticks or noisy crowds—just your family, the sound of waves in the distance, and the simple joy of being fully present. For families craving a true break from the busyness of everyday life, Lanai offers the peace you may not have realized you were missing, with just enough luxury to make it feel like a dream. Whether you are wandering tide pools, exploring Mars-like landscapes, or enjoying champagne while the kids dive into dessert, Lanai reminds you how magical it can be to slow down together.

Molokai: Real Culture, Real Hawaii, Real Family

Moloka‘i invites your family to experience the Hawaiian Islands the way they used to be: simple, soulful, and deeply rooted in tradition. Here, there are no towering resorts, no shopping malls, and no staged luaus with flashing lights. Instead, you are welcomed into a slower, more authentic rhythm of life. It is a place where the ocean, the mountains, and the people all feel connected, and where visitors are invited not just to watch, but to participate.

Adventure on Moloka‘i feels refreshingly unpolished. You might hike through dense forest to discover a hidden waterfall, or ride mules along towering sea cliffs with waves crashing below. Instead of booking an excursion online, you could find yourself learning to throw a Hawaiian fishing net from a local uncle who insists on treating your kids like family. That is the spirit of Moloka‘i—generous, unhurried, and rooted in a sense of community.

Your days here may unfold gently. Take off your shoes and wander along Papohaku Beach, one of the longest stretches of sand in all of Hawai‘i. The three miles of golden shoreline are often empty, giving your family the rare luxury of having an entire beach to yourselves. If you are lucky, you may even spot an endangered Hawaiian monk seal stretched out on the sand, basking in the sun. These gentle creatures are found only in Hawai‘i, and seeing one in the wild is a rare and unforgettable moment. It is also a chance to teach kids about respect for wildlife and the importance of protecting fragile ecosystems.

Beyond the beaches, you can visit a macadamia nut farm, where the kids can snack straight from the source, or spend an afternoon volunteering at a community taro patch. These experiences are not just activities, they are lessons in sustainability, gratitude, and connection to the land. There are no lines to stand in, no crowded attractions to push through. Instead, there are quiet moments of discovery—watching the sunrise paint the sky in soft pinks, listening to Hawaiian stories passed down through generations, and sharing laughter with locals who welcome you like long-lost cousins.

For families who want more than just a vacation, Moloka‘i offers something far deeper. It is a place to teach your children about respect, about slowing down, and about the true meaning of aloha. The kind of lessons that linger long after you return home, woven into your family’s story just like the island itself.

Raja Ampat: The Crown Jewel of Coral Reefs

Raja Ampat stands out as one of the most extraordinary diving destinations I have ever experienced. Tucked away in the far eastern corner of Indonesia, this remote archipelago sits in the very heart of the Coral Triangle, often called the “Amazon of the Seas.” It offers unmatched marine biodiversity: kaleidoscopic coral reefs, dense schools of shimmering fish, graceful reef sharks, and encounters with manta rays gliding effortlessly through waters so clear it feels like drifting through liquid glass. On a single dive, I remember seeing turtles paddle past, barracuda swirling in silvery spirals, and soft corals blooming in colors so vivid they seemed unreal.

What truly sets Raja Ampat apart is not just the staggering beauty beneath the waves, but the feeling of being so far removed from the busy world. To reach it requires a flight, a boat, and often another small boat ride, but that journey is part of what preserves its serenity. Diving here feels like entering a pristine underwater kingdom untouched by mass tourism. The reefs pulse with life and color, yet there is a quiet rhythm that invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and simply observe. Unlike more popular destinations, you often share these dive sites with no one but your dive buddies and the fish themselves.

Above the surface, the magic continues. Jungle-clad islands rise from turquoise lagoons, limestone cliffs tower over hidden coves, and villages welcome you with warmth and simplicity. Between dives, you might kayak through mangroves, hike to viewpoints overlooking scattered emerald islets, or watch hornbills soar overhead at dusk. Evenings are quiet, filled with the sounds of lapping waves and the soft hum of the tropics.

For travelers seeking raw natural beauty, thriving ecosystems, and a genuine connection with the ocean, Raja Ampat is more than a destination—it is a revelation. It challenges your idea of what is possible beneath the surface, while reminding you how fragile and precious our oceans truly are. Every dive feels like a privilege, every moment like a gift. Raja Ampat is not just a place you visit, but a place that stays with you long after you leave.

Red Sea: Ancient Waters, Thrilling Dives

Diving the Red Sea is like slipping through a portal: part time machine, part dreamscape, and entirely unforgettable. Each descent is a plunge into a living museum, where sunken history rests quietly beneath coral-encrusted walls and every glance reveals bold flashes of marine color.

I still remember the surreal experience of hovering weightless above the SS Thistlegorm, that iconic World War II wreck sleeping in silence beneath the waves. My buddy and I moved slowly through its shadowed chambers, pointing excitedly at motorbikes, boots, and sunken freight frozen in time. Each flick of our fins stirred stories from the past. We spent two full days there, diving, exploring, and wondering. It felt like the barest beginning. Yet even then, in those submerged moments, we felt something ancient stir—not just in the wreck, but between us. Every shared discovery deepened the unspoken bond we carried with each dive.

Surface intervals became rituals of their own. We stretched side by side on the sun-warmed deck, the dry wind of the Sinai brushing across our skin, the desert mountains standing quiet sentinel beyond the cobalt horizon. Time slowed. The conversations that floated between us carried ease and warmth, punctuated by laughter that echoed over the open sea. There was a softness in those in-between moments when salt crusted our lips and the ocean shimmered with promise. The experience became more than just a dive trip. It was connection, rediscovered with every sunrise.

The Red Sea is not just a destination. It is an encounter with history, with natural wonder, and with each other. It offers the perfect alchemy of adrenaline and intimacy, challenge and calm. With crystal visibility and the humbling grace of its marine life, this place whispers to the soul of every diver: Come closer. There’s more to uncover. And if you’re lucky, you won’t just surface with memories. You’ll return with something deeper, forged in the silence between bubbles and the joy of shared awe.

Bali: Eat, Pray, Love...and Maybe Chase a Monkey

I still remember my first morning in Bali, stepping into the warm air that carried the scent of incense from a nearby temple mixed with the salty breeze from the ocean. Roosters crowed in the distance, scooters buzzed down little lanes, and somewhere I could hear the soft notes of a gamelan orchestra drifting through the trees. It was one of those rare moments when you instantly know you’ve arrived someplace special. Within hours I was hiking through shimmering rice terraces, laughing at the monkeys in Ubud who tried to snatch my sunglasses, and savoring my first plate of satay, smoky and tender and so good I never wanted dinner to end. That is the magic of Bali. It pulls you into its rhythm, slows you down, and reminds you that life is about connection, laughter, and savoring the moment. Some of my favorite memories are wrapped up in Bali’s landscapes. Hiking Mount Batur before dawn was both challenging and exhilarating, and when we reached the summit and watched the sky shift from indigo to gold while the clouds floated below us, I felt that rare kind of stillness that only comes when you’re truly present. Later, scuba diving revealed coral gardens bursting with neon fish and graceful sea turtles. Surfacing from a dive, catching my partner’s eye, and realizing we had shared something unforgettable together is a feeling I’ll never forget. The temples were just as powerful. At Uluwatu, perched dramatically on a cliff above crashing waves, we wandered through sacred courtyards while monkeys darted mischievously around us. In Ubud’s Monkey Forest, shrines covered in moss stood beneath towering banyan trees, creating a space that felt both playful and deeply spiritual.Food tied everything together. Mornings began with banana pancakes or bowls of mango and papaya that tasted like sunshine. Afternoons were for smoothie bowls or fried bananas, and evenings stretched long over fragrant curries, grilled seafood on the sand, and sticky rice desserts that sparked playful battles over the last bite. Meals in Bali are never rushed. They bring people together. The markets were just as unforgettable. In Ubud, stalls overflowed with hand-carved masks, colorful sarongs, silver jewelry, and batik fabrics. Shopping wasn’t just buying souvenirs, it was sharing laughs while bargaining, watching teens proudly choose unique treasures, or seeing little ones wide-eyed at all the colors. Every piece carried a memory home with it.What struck me most is how naturally Bali creates connection. Couples who feel more like roommates than partners find themselves laughing again, whether it’s wiping out on surfboards, sitting quietly in a yoga class, or watching the sunset hand in hand. Families with teens discover that rafting, ziplining, or simply sharing a plate of satay gets everyone engaged in ways screens never could. And for families with young children, Bali feels like a wonderland. Sanur’s calm beaches welcome little swimmers, temple offerings spark curiosity, and even a fresh coconut with a straw becomes a magical moment. Parents get the chance to rest, knowing their kids are safe and welcomed everywhere.Over and over, I was reminded that Bali is not just a destination but a place where connection happens almost effortlessly. Whether it was watching a sunrise above the clouds, wandering hand in hand through a market, or sitting together at a temple while incense curled into the air, I felt how easy it was to slow down and reconnect. Bali is where couples fall back in love, where teens rejoin the family, and where young children begin their first travel traditions. When I help families plan their time here, I want them to discover not just a trip, but those moments of joy and togetherness that last long after the suitcases are unpacked. Because in Bali, connection doesn’t just happen by chance. It’s part of the experience.

Paris: Croissants, Monet, and a little Sparkle

Paris. Even the name feels dreamy. It’s a city that greets you with flaky pastry crumbs on your fingers, the smell of fresh bread drifting through the streets, and that little sparkle the Eiffel Tower gives off at night that makes you feel like a kid again.

Like most visitors, I started with the famous must-sees. The Louvre left me wide-eyed (and yes, the Mona Lisa is much smaller than I expected, but somehow her smile still pulled me in). Standing beneath the Eiffel Tower made me feel both tiny and important at the same time. A cruise on the Seine at sunset? Let’s just say the movies didn’t exaggerate.

But for me, the real highlight wasn’t on the typical checklist. I wandered into the Salvador Dalí museum in Montmartre...and it completely pulled me in. His art was playful, strange, and so full of imagination that it felt like stepping into a dream. It reminded me that Paris isn’t just about what you see. It’s about what makes you laugh, what surprises you, and what stays with you long after you leave.

Of course, I can’t talk about Paris without talking about the food. I ate my way through as many bakeries as I could find, and I have no regrets. Croissants so buttery they practically melted in my hands. Pain au chocolat that made breakfast feel like dessert. Macarons in colors so pretty I almost didn’t want to eat them (almost). And then there were the savory bites too, like escargot and onion soup that warmed me on a chilly evening. But honestly, some of my favorite moments were the simple ones, like sitting at a café with a cappuccino and a pastry, watching the city move around me.

Montmartre ended up being my favorite neighborhood because it felt alive in a different way. The winding streets, the little cafés, the artists painting at their easels, it all felt like stepping back into another time. Add Dalí’s wild imagination into the mix, and it became one of those moments where travel turns from “sightseeing” into something more personal.

What I loved most about Paris is that it has something for everyone. If you’re chasing romance, it’s there. If you want history, it’s around every corner. And if you just want to eat your weight in croissants and call it culture, well, Paris won’t judge you.

For me, Paris wasn’t just about checking things off a list. It was about slowing down, tasting everything (sometimes twice), and letting myself feel part of the story of the city. And that’s what I love to share with my clients. Your Paris might be museums, or food, or neighborhoods that surprise you. Whatever it is, it will be your own story, and I promise, it will be magic.

Washington: Wanderings in the Evergreen State

Washington State is one of those places that quietly sneaks up on you with its beauty, variety, and soul. I spent some time traveling through Seattle, a few of the nearby islands, Leavenworth, and Bremerton, and honestly, it felt like four different vacations in one. Seattle, as expected, is vibrant and buzzing. It’s a city that wears its quirks proudly, from the iconic Space Needle and bustling Pike Place Market to indie neighborhoods like Fremont, where a giant troll lives under a bridge, and Capitol Hill, where nightlife, bookstores, and espresso shops live in perfect harmony. I started most mornings with strong coffee and the scent of rain on the sidewalks, and ended evenings with fresh seafood and views of the skyline glowing over Elliott Bay. One of the best things I did was take a ferry to Bainbridge Island. The ride is peaceful and scenic, with wide-open views of the water and mountains, and the island itself is a quiet escape with small shops, forest trails, and a creative, artsy vibe that makes you want to stay longer. Not far away, Whidbey Island felt even more remote and natural, especially when walking the coastal bluffs at Ebey’s Landing. The towns scattered across Whidbey are full of charm and feel like the kind of places where people still say hello on the street and nothing ever feels rushed. Even further north, the San Juan Islands feel like another world entirely. I stayed on San Juan Island and spent a full afternoon watching orcas breach in the distance. That moment alone made the trip worth it. The whole area feels peaceful and untouched, with rolling farmland, hidden coves, and little roadside stands selling lavender, honey, and fresh cheese. Shifting inland, Leavenworth felt like stepping into a fairytale. Tucked into the Cascade Mountains, this Bavarian-themed town really leans into the alpine aesthetic, but it does it with heart. I visited in the fall and the whole place was glowing with golden leaves, crisp mountain air, and festive lights strung across balconies. It’s one of those towns where you spend your days walking with a hot drink, browsing quirky shops, and watching people dressed in lederhosen play accordion outside a bakery. The food is comfort-heavy and fun, with big pretzels, bratwurst, and beer served in giant mugs. It could easily feel too touristy, but instead it feels warm, cozy, and a little whimsical. Finally, there’s Bremerton, a place I almost skipped but ended up really enjoying. It’s known for its naval base, and that history is everywhere, but it also has this low-key creative vibe with local galleries, waterfront parks, and surprisingly good food. The Harborside area is lovely to walk through, with fountains, art sculptures, and views across the bay. It felt lived-in and authentic, with fewer crowds and more of that real Pacific Northwest character. What I loved most about traveling through Washington was how dramatically each place shifted in personality. One moment you’re in a fast-moving city, and a short drive or ferry later you’re in the woods, on a farm, or in a town that looks like it belongs in the Alps. Washington doesn’t show off. It invites you to take your time, look closer, and discover things slowly. It’s a place where nature and culture live side by side, where every season brings a new feeling, and where even the quietest towns have something to say...if you’re willing to listen.

Redwood National Park: Tall Trees and Quiet Moment

There are places that impress you, and then there are places that change how you move through the day. Humboldt County and the redwoods fall into the second category.Tucked along California’s far northern coast, this region is home to some of the tallest trees on Earth. But what stays with most people is not just their height. It is the feeling of walking beneath them. The forest is quiet in a way that feels comforting, not empty. Your pace naturally slows. Conversations soften. You start noticing small things again, like filtered light, damp earth, and the sound of wind moving high above you.

This place is especially meaningful to me because it is where I went to college. I studied at Humboldt State, and those years shaped my love for wild places, slower living, and learning directly from the land. Even now, long after graduation, I return every few years simply because it still feels important to me. Humboldt is not really on the way to anything, which I think is part of its magic. You come here because you want to be here, not because it is convenient.Redwood National and State Parks stretch across a landscape where ancient forests meet wild coastline. You can wander through groves that feel almost sacred, then drive a short distance to stand on a bluff overlooking the Pacific. Fog drifts in and out, changing the mood by the hour. No two days feel exactly the same, even if you visit the same place twice.

What makes this region so special is how easy it is to experience without feeling overwhelmed. You do not need a packed itinerary or long days of driving. A simple plan often works best here. A morning walk among redwoods. A picnic by a river. An afternoon exploring a quiet beach. Evenings tend to be slow and cozy, with the kind of tired that comes from fresh air and time outside.

Humboldt County is wonderful for couples and families who want to reconnect. Kids tend to relax here. They climb fallen logs, look for banana slugs, and invent games without much structure. Teens often respond well to the space and freedom, especially when the days include hikes, tide pools, or time near the water. Couples often find that long walks, shared silence, and unhurried meals create room for deeper conversations without trying to force them.T

he towns throughout Humboldt add warmth and personality to the trip. Eureka’s historic homes and working harbor, Arcata’s lively plaza and farmers market, and coastal spots like Trinidad all offer their own sense of place. These are towns where local cafés matter, where people greet each other, and where life still moves at a reasonable pace.

One of the things I love most about the redwoods is that they do not ask you to do much. There is no pressure to see everything or rush from one highlight to the next. Some of the most memorable moments come from staying in one grove longer than planned or taking a quiet side road just to see where it leads.

This is a destination that naturally supports rest and reflection. Many travelers arrive looking for a scenic getaway and leave feeling calmer and more grounded than they expected. The forest does that quietly, without fanfare.

Thoughtful planning can make a big difference here. Choosing the right place to stay, understanding seasonal weather, and matching activities to your energy level helps the trip feel easy rather than tiring. Some travelers love cozy cabins tucked into the forest. Others prefer charming inns or simple lodges near the coast. Families often appreciate flexible spaces with room to spread out, while couples may enjoy quieter locations that feel a bit removed from it all.

Humboldt County and the redwoods are ideal for travelers who want to slow down, breathe a little deeper, and spend meaningful time together. It is a place where doing less often feels like doing more. The kind of place that stays with you and quietly calls you back, even when it is not on the way to anywhere else.

Oregon: Cities, Rivers, and the Wild Pacific

I came to know Oregon by living in Portland, not by passing through it. It’s a place I learned by experience- wandering neighborhoods, following the river, driving with no destination planned. That’s still how I experience Oregon now, and it’s how I help my clients experience it too.

In Portland, I gravitate toward experiences that invite you to engage rather than observe. I’ve spent hours at OMSI, not rushing through but letting curiosity lead, especially when traveling with kids. I love pairing that kind of hands-on learning with quieter moments, like time in the Rose Garden, long walks along the waterfront, or letting a day unfold around food. Portland is a city where exploring neighborhoods through restaurants and cafés is part of the experience, and I help clients stay in places that make that easy instead of feeling scattered. When it fits, I like adding something playful and unexpected, like Hopscotch, to give a city stay a creative edge.

Just beyond the city, the Columbia River Gorge is where I go when I want movement, weather, and landscape to shape the day. I’ve driven this corridor countless times, stopping to hike, watching the wind fill the river with kite surfers, and planning days around what the Gorge is offering rather than forcing an itinerary. This is a place where you can white-water raft, hike to waterfalls, or simply stand still and watch the energy of the water and wind. I help clients experience the Gorge the same way. With smart timing, realistic driving days, and the right mix of activity and rest so it feels expansive, not overwhelming.

When winter arrives, the freezing fun begins. I’ve planned trips around skiing and snowboarding on Mount Hood, knowing how quickly conditions shift and how much smoother the experience is when lodging, timing, and expectations are aligned. Whether clients want full snow days or just a taste of winter scenery- Polar Express train, yes please! I help shape trips that feel supportive rather than stressful.

The Oregon Coast is where I slow everything down. I've experience it through road trips that allow time to wander into small seaside towns, browse local shops, eat excellent seafood, and let weather dictate the plan. You can walk the beach where Haystack Rock anchors the horizon, explored stretches of coast where you can hike, tidepool, or sit quietly and watch for whales, otters, and birds. Or visit places like the Newport Aquarium with kids and build days around fishing harbors, beaches, and unexpected details like cranberry bogs that remind you this is a working landscape, not just a scenic one.

When I plan Oregon trips for clients, I’m not just listing places. I’m helping you experience Oregon the way that you want to. By choosing the right bases so you’re not constantly packing up. By building days that allow for exploration without exhaustion. By mixing hands-on activities, outdoor adventure, and unstructured time so the trip feels balanced and personal.Whether you want a curious, hands-on city stay in Portland, active days along the Columbia River, or a slower coastal road trip that invites wandering and discovery, I help you experience Oregon in a way that feels natural, grounded, and deeply enjoyable.

Ranay made everything super easy and stress-free. I didnt have to worry about a thing, just show up and enjoy. If youre planning a trip to Bali, I cant recommend Ranya enough. She really know what she' doing and made sure my trip was amazing from start to finish.

Unreal Trip to Hawaii

My trip to Kauai was absolutely incredible, and I couldnt have done it without Ranya! From the moment we started planning, they took care of everything my flight, transportation, the resort, and even all the fun activities. I stayed at the Princeville Resort, and it was beautiful! The views were stunning, the service was top-notch, and I felt relaxed the whole time. Ranya made sure I had everything I needed and even helped plan some really fun experiences like a helicopter tour and a boat ride along the Na Pali Coast. What I really appreciated was how easy everything was. I didnt have to stress or figure anything out on my own Ranya handled it all and checked in to make sure things were going well. I felt taken care of the whole way through. If you're thinking about going to Kauai, I highly recommend working with Ranya. Theyre professional, super helpful, and really care about making your trip special.

Kauai totally blew my family away, the views and outdoor adventures were unforgettable. Even my high schoolers enjoyed hiking through Waimea Canyon. Kayaking the rivers was everyone's favorite activity. Thank you, Ranya!
