Arrival in Arusha
Day 1Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to Arusha (1 hour). Check into your lodge set in a working coffee plantation. Rest after your journey, take an optional coffee plantation tour, and enjoy dinner. Safari briefing with your guide for the days ahead.
Tarangire National Park
Day 2Full-day game drive in Tarangire (2-hour drive from Arusha). Famous for massive elephant herds - often 300+ elephants! See iconic baobab trees, lions, leopards, and abundant birdlife. Picnic lunch by the Tarangire River watching wildlife. This park is underrated and less crowded than Serengeti.
Lake Manyara National Park
Day 3Morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Look for the famous tree-climbing lions, large elephant herds, hippos, and incredible birdlife including flamingos. The groundwater forest creates a unique ecosystem different from other parks. Drive to Ngorongoro Crater rim (1.5 hours). Check into your crater rim lodge with spectacular views. Late afternoon at leisure to enjoy the panoramic vistas. Prepare for tomorrow's crater descent!
Ngorongoro Crater Floor
Day 4Early descent into the 600m-deep crater - one of Africa's natural wonders! This UNESCO World Heritage Site has the world's highest concentration of wildlife. Excellent chance to see all Big Five including rare black rhinos. Picnic lunch by the hippo pool. Ascend in afternoon and drive to Serengeti (3-4 hours with game viewing en route).
Seronera Area - Central Serengeti
Day 5Full day exploring the legendary Serengeti! The Seronera area offers year-round wildlife viewing with resident lion prides, leopards in acacia trees, cheetahs on the plains, and the Seronera River supporting hippos and crocodiles. Depending on season, witness the great migration. Game drives morning and afternoon.
Morning Serengeti Game Drive
Day 6Final early morning game drive - wildlife is most active at dawn. Return to camp for breakfast and pack. Fly from Serengeti to Zanzibar (via Arusha, ~2-3 hours total). Transition from dusty plains to tropical paradise! Transfer to your beach resort on the east coast (Nungwi, Kendwa, or Paje beaches). Afternoon to relax by the ocean.
Stone Town
Day 7Morning visit to historic Stone Town - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the winding alleys, visit the House of Wonders, Old Fort, spice markets, and Forodhani Gardens. Learn about Zanzibar's rich history as a spice trading hub and cultural crossroads. Return to your beach hotel. Final afternoon swimming in turquoise waters, snorkeling, or simply relaxing on white sand beaches. Evening transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your departure flight. Perfect end to your Tanzanian adventure!
