My initiation into the world of culinary arts began when I was attending college in Charleston, South Carolina. This foodie city developed my ongoing love for wine & food and curating experiences focused around them.
If you are looking for a great travel destination, then you should consider Charleston, SC. With its charming historic downtown, gorgeous beaches, and abundance of cultural attractions, Charleston is the perfect place to explore and have a great time. From beautiful gardens to amazing museums and a wide variety of restaurants and shopping, Charleston has something for everyone. As your Charleston, South Carolina travel agent and advisor, I can arrange a great holiday. First, take a stroll through the beautiful City Market. This four-block outdoor enclave is home to artisans, musicians, food vendors, and more. Wander around and check out the unique souvenirs and handmade items featured for sale - the ideal place to spend a lazy day in the late spring or summer. I advise following the market on its Facebook page and you’ll know what I mean. The market is the cultural heart of Charleston - a warm and inviting place that has a fantastic history. It was established way back in 1804 and is appropriately located on Meeting Street. Next, visit the Charleston Waterfront Park. This park is located along the Ashley and Cooper Rivers and is therefore the idyllic spot for a scenic stroll or bike ride. For history buffs, a visit to the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon is a must. This is one of the oldest buildings in Charleston, and it is home to a museum, the Provost Dungeon, and several other attractions. During the time of the American Revolution, the British turned the bottom floor of the Exchange into a prison - the place for the Provost Dungeon. It takes about an hour to take the self-guided tour. Even if you’re not into history, you’ll love visiting this old building. You can learn more about the attraction here. Finally, don't miss the aquarium. The South Carolina Aquarium is a great place to learn about sea life and even go on dolphin-watching cruises. The aquarium also features interactive exhibits, feeding shows, and educational programs. Here’s another place you want to follow on Facebook. Charleston is the epitome of everything historic, architectural, and outdoorsy. I always tell clients that it’s one place where you can really explore. Whether you’re dining and sampling new cuisine or hiking in a state park, you’ll make some sensational discoveries. That’s why I alway advise vacationers to begin in Charleston’s historic downtown. Stroll leisurely along cobblestone streets - streets that allow you to escape to another time and place. Stop at iconic landmarks like the Battery at Fort Sumter. Arrange a visit to Pineapple Fountain and make a wish at this Waterfront Park landmark. The park rests along the Ravenel Bridge and Charleston Harbor. It also features a splash fountain for kids of all ages - something to do during the hot Lowcountry summer. You’ll discover that Charleston uses pineapple motifs in the city - iconic images that brand the city in the minds of tourists and visitors. Of course I can’t talk about Charleston without mentioning its beaches - pristine sands that stretch along the Atlantic Ocean. Make plans to visit the Isle of Palms for long shore walks or go to Folly Beach and surf or fish. You’ll also be mesmerized by the Charleston area’s stunning plantations and its excellent museums. In fact, the Charleston Museum is the oldest museum in the U.S. Get to know the city through the museum’s collection of arts, artifacts, and displays. You’ll also want to pay a visit to the Confederate Museum. Market Hall in Charleston is home to the Confederate Museum. The hall was a business hub in the city for many years from its establishment in 1899, and also served as a recruiting station during the Civil War. The museum itself is an exemplary example of the Greek Revival style of architecture. It’s been restored to its prior grandeur. Below are other attractions that you’ll want to consider on your vacation to Charleston:
1. The Gibbes Museum of Art: Located in the heart of downtown, this museum not only houses a stunning range of both traditional and modern art but also offers an array of educational programs and events. 2. The Magnolia Plantation and Gardens: Enjoy a leisurely stroll through this historic plantation and take in the scenery of the gardens and grounds. 3. Middleton Place: A beautiful estate with picturesque grounds, gardens and ponds. 4. Angel Oak Tree: An ancient and majestic live oak tree estimated to be between 400-500 years old. Start planning your visit to explore this amazing city and all it has to offer! Give me a call to begin trip planning now. I look forward to helping you with your vacation plans to Charleston. As your Charleston travel specialist, I can create a memorable holiday. Contact me now so you don’t miss out on this bucket-list destination.

While I was living in Europe I took several trips throughout France, including Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Dijon, the Loire Valley, Provence and Alsace. Not only do the French make some of my most treasured wines, especially Champagne, but they are experts on food. If you ever want to get the best of both worlds this is the country for you!

The journey to get to your destination is always a part of the experience that can often surprise you with sights you might not have planned to see. My first trip to Italy was a memorable family vacation that wouldn't have been complete without a few hiccups. We ended up missing our flight to Florence from Paris and had to pivot as a family of 5 traveling together. We rented a car and drove. Something I will always remember was holding a large navigation map directing my father in a country I had never been, let alone driven through. Although that drive wasn't in the plans it gave us a chance to see more of France and Northern Italy, which is absolutely stunning. Since that unforgettable vacation I have returned to Italy several times which has allowed me to execute several itineraries for clients.

While attending college I studied abroad in Spain because not only did I have a love for the language but knew that the culture and people are known for being welcoming and friendly. I fell in love with Seville where I was living, a city which is full of history boasting some of the largest and oldest cathedrals in the world, next to the Vatican. As for food, the jamon is some of the best in the world, in fact I would have a bocadillo (ham sandwich) almost daily. While there, I took the opportunity to travel to several other areas including Cadiz, Benalmadena (a small coastal beach town), the island of Mallorca, Madrid, Barcelona, Toledo, Granada among a few others.

Canyon Spirit: Colorado to Utah
For travelers in Colorado like me, one of the country's most spectacular rail experiences begins at our doorstep. Canyon Spirit’s Rockies to Red Rocks journey travels from Denver to Salt Lake City, winding through some of the Southwest’s most dramatic landscapes in between.
Departing from Denver, the journey carries you through the heart of the Colorado Rockies and across the Continental Divide, with a stop in Glenwood Springs along the way. This is a chance to stretch your legs and, if you have time, soak in the town’s famous hot springs (Iron Mountain is my personal favorite), before continuing west into Utah’s dramatic red-rock country. Along the way, the scenery does much of the entertaining, with rugged mountain peaks, deep canyons, and the striking formations of the Book Cliffs unfolding before your eyes.
The trip also includes a stop near Arches National Park, making it easy to step off the train and take in Utah’s iconic red-rock landscape. But this is far more than a beautiful way to get from Denver to Salt Lake City. Unlike Amtrak, Canyon Spirit offers attentive onboard service, luxury seating, elevated dining, and knowledgeable guides who bring the landscape to life, making the train itself a highlight. And because the route connects Colorado and Utah, it makes for a compelling trip in any season, whether you’re chasing snowy mountain scenery, planning a sunny getaway, or simply looking for a scenic way west without the long drive on I-70.
Advisor Tip: Consider arriving a night early for a little staycation. The 5* Crawford Hotel puts you right inside Denver’s historic Union Station, where you’ll find plenty of spots to grab a bite or a drink before your trip begins. Be sure to treat yourself to Milkbox Ice Creamery. Their boozy Thin Mints shake gives you your Girl Scout cookie fix year-round. It’s a small indulgence, but one that makes the experience even sweeter.
Coast Starlight: California to the Pacific Northwest
Few train journeys capture the West's changing scenery quite like Amtrak's Coast Starlight. The route links Los Angeles and Seattle, passing through a remarkable mix of California coastline, forests, valleys, mountains, and Pacific Northwest scenery.
The route passes through destinations worth a trip in their own right, including Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle, making it easy to build a longer vacation around several stops. The real appeal here is the variety. One stretch might have you watching the Pacific roll past your window; hours later, the landscape has transformed into forests and mountain country, making the ride feel like part of the destination.
Advisor Tip: Add a few extra days with a glamping experience at Under Canvas in the Columbia River Gorge. Just an hour from Portland, this 120-acre property sits in Washington’s scenic White Salmon River Valley, surrounded by forested hillsides and the Columbia River's natural beauty. Upscale outdoor accommodations, café-style dining, and an inviting outdoor lounge take glamping to the next level, making it an elevated way to experience one of the Pacific Northwest’s most beautiful landscapes.
Adirondack: New York to Montreal
The Adirondack offers a completely different perspective on train travel, connecting New York City with Montreal and trading Western mountain scenery for the Northeast's famous foliage. The journey starts in Manhattan, follows the Hudson River toward Albany, then continues through Saratoga Springs and north along Lake Champlain, with views of forests, small towns, and the Adirondack Mountains. In autumn, the route becomes especially scenic as the landscape fills with vibrant shades of red, orange, and gold, making the 10-hour ride feel like an experience in itself.
Once you arrive in Montreal, the atmosphere shifts again. With its European-inspired architecture, historic neighborhoods, café culture, and French influence, Montreal can feel surprisingly like a trip to Europe, without the transatlantic flight.
Advisor Tip: Make the hotel part of the experience with a stay at the 5-star Le Mount Stephen Hotel. Set inside the former residence of Sir George Stephen, a Canadian businessman who served as president of the Canadian Pacific Railway, the 1880 mansion offers a charming connection to Montreal’s railway history. After a day of exploring, unwind at Bar George, the property’s historic cocktail bar, and toast the man who helped make it all possible!
For a foodie, Mexico City is the kind of place where a day can revolve entirely around what’s next to eat or drink. The best way to experience it? Take it slowly. Move from breakfast to pastries, mezcal to dinner, while wandering through some of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods along the way.
Start in Condesa
Tucked within a charming Condesa square, Ojo de Agua is the perfect place to start fresh. The bright, lively atmosphere is enough to wake you up, with colorful plates, towering bowls, and some of the best fruit you’ll taste all trip.
For something a little more substantial, stop at Lardo. With its open kitchen and lively atmosphere, it’s made for ordering several plates and sharing. It’s the kind of place where you’ll want to linger over your café de olla instead of rushing off to the next stop.
Wherever you go, leave time to explore afterward. Wander through Parque México, browse the neighborhood’s boutiques, and make a stop at Casa Salt, a quirky personal favorite featuring work from local artists and makers. You’ll quickly find that the best part of Condesa is discovering what catches your eye along the way.
A Sweet Stop in Roma Norte
Because one meal is never enough in Mexico City, leave room for something sweet. Head to Roma Norte for one of the city’s cult-favorite bakeries, Panadería Rosetta. The famous guava roll is the must-order, but take a look around before choosing what else to bring along.
After grabbing your pastries to go, head to Mercado Medellín, a lively neighborhood market known for its mix of Mexican and Latin American flavors. Browse Colombian and Honduran specialties alongside colorful flowers, fresh juices, and local snacks. It’s a fun way to see a more everyday side of Roma before you keep going.
Mezcal O'clock
Eventually, it’s time to trade pastry for agave. At La Clandestina Mezcalería, pull up a seat alongside locals and travelers, all gathered for the same ritual: a good pour of mezcal. If you’re looking for something to hold you over until dinner (and feeling a little bold), try a side of chapulines - better known as crispy, seasoned grasshoppers. It’s the only way to truly blend in with the crowd.
Dinner at Rosetta
Make Rosetta the evening’s centerpiece. Housed in a beautiful old Roma Norte mansion, the Michelin-starred restaurant feels like a secret garden. With trees sprouting to the ceiling and greenery growing throughout its elegant rooms, the cooking celebrates Mexican ingredients with a creative, sophisticated approach. If a full dinner feels like too much after a day of eating, stop by for a rooftop drink and take in the bustling streets from your oasis above.
The beauty of a day like this is that you never really have to choose between seeing the city and eating your way through it. In Mexico City, the two go hand in hand.
Where to Stay
La Valise Mexico City feels less like a hotel and more like a beautiful private residence. Tucked inside a boutique townhouse and limited to just eight rooms, it offers an intimate experience that’s especially appealing to travelers who want to feel less like visitors and more like locals.
For a decidedly different experience, Sofitel Mexico City embraces the energy and scale of a modern five-star hotel. Set in Reforma, it pairs sweeping city views with a spa, pool, and several dining options, while its central location makes it easy to explore Chapultepec, Roma, and Condesa.
Ski season is finally here, and the hardest part might just be deciding where to go. Whether you’re clipping into skis for the first time, ready to trade the groomers for steeper terrain, or looking to take ski season somewhere completely unexpected, here are three ways to hit the slopes this winter.
Colorado: Start in Vail
If you’re new to skiing, or traveling with kids who are, Vail makes a pretty compelling place to start. Golden Peak is home to Vail’s Ski & Snowboard School and dedicated learning terrain, with Sourdough as a great next step once you’re ready to venture a little higher, with wide, groomed green runs perfect for building confidence. But what really makes Vail work for families is everything waiting once the ski boots come off. Wander the cobblestone streets of Vail Village, stop for hot chocolate, or pop into the original Gorsuch flagship for a little après-ski shopping while the more ambitious skiers squeeze in a few more runs. It’s one of those rare ski destinations where the non-skiers can have just as much fun as everyone else.
Where to Stay: Perched above Lionshead, Invited Home's Ascension comes with a secret: a private funicular that carries you up the hillside to the home's own ski chalet, where you can click into your skis and glide straight onto the Simba run. Back at the house, the après scene is all yours with a heated pool, hot tub, and fire pits, followed by dinner around a table for sixteen.
Utah: Level Up at Deer Valley
Ready to trade the bunny hill for something a little more thrilling? Head to Utah. Just outside Park City, Deer Valley pairs Utah’s famous powder with an elevated take on the classic ski trip. More experienced skiers will find bowls and steeper terrain to explore, but one of the mountain’s most unique experiences doesn’t require setting an early alarm. Each day, Deer Valley freshly grooms a selection of runs and keeps them closed all morning. At noon, they open exclusively for Corduroy Lunch, giving skiers the rare chance to carve through untouched terrain in the middle of the day. When the lifts slow down, trade your ski boots for a stroll down Park City’s historic Main Street, lined with colorful storefronts, galleries, and plenty of restaurants to satisfy an appetite only a day on the slopes can build. And though it feels worlds away, Deer Valley is less than an hour from Salt Lake City International Airport, making it surprisingly easy to turn this adventure into a long weekend.
Where to Stay: Bring a little European charm to Utah at Goldener Hirsch, a luxury hotel blending Austrian chalet charm with modern mountain elegance. It’s just steps away from the lifts, with Park City’s dining, shopping, and après scene just down the mountain.
The Dolomites: Take Ski Season to Italy
Before assuming an international ski trip is out of budget, it might be worth doing the math. Discount winter airfare can make getting to Europe surprisingly competitive, and lift tickets can cost considerably less than at many U.S. resorts. Suddenly, crossing the Atlantic to ski beneath the jagged peaks of the Italian Alps doesn’t sound quite so extravagant. Enter the Dolomites. Dolomiti Superski brings together 12 ski areas under one pass, creating a vast network of lifts, gondolas and runs stretching across the region. One of the best-known ways to experience it is the Sellaronda, a spectacular circuit around the Sella massif that lets you spend the day skiing from valley to valley and village to village. At the end of the day, trade your ski boots for a nice, long dinner at Anna Stuben for a Michelin-starred take on the culinary flavors that make the Dolomites so special.
Where to Stay: Set directly on the slopes of Alpe di Siusi, COMO Alpina Dolomites offers ski-in/ski-out access, sweeping mountain views, and an expansive wellness retreat. It’s exactly the kind of place that makes the Dolomites as appealing between runs as they are on the slopes.
There are cities that decorate for Christmas, and then there’s New York. The city has helped shape what we picture when we think of the holidays. Twinkling trees beneath the skyline, skaters gliding across the ice, and the Rockettes kicking their way across Radio City Music Hall. It’s the Christmas we grew up watching on screen and one that feels even more magical in person. Yes, it’s busy. Yes, it’s a little over the top. And yes, there’s a reason people come from all over the world to experience it. If a New York Christmas is calling your name, here are three ways to experience the city at its best.
Midtown: Go All In on the Classics
Some experiences are worth braving the crowds for, and Christmas at Rockefeller Center is one of them. See the tree after dark, then wander Fifth Avenue, where elaborate holiday windows and storefronts turn a shopping trip into part of the spectacle. From there, make your way around the corner to Radio City Music Hall for the Christmas Spectacular starring the Radio City Rockettes. Between the lights, window displays, and Rockettes, this is about as quintessentially New York at Christmas as it gets!
Where to Stay: Keep the old New York glamour going at The St. Regis New York, just off Fifth Avenue in the heart of Midtown. The landmark hotel has been welcoming guests since 1904, making it feel right at home among the city’s Christmas traditions.
Central Park: Skate Where the View Is Better
Rockefeller Center may have New York’s most famous ice rink, but for the best, head a little farther north to Wollman Rink in Central Park. Ice skating has been part of Central Park almost from the beginning. New Yorkers first took to the frozen lake in the winter of 1858, and today, you get the best of both worlds, with Central Park surrounding you and Manhattan’s skyline rising just beyond the ice. It’s larger and more open than the rink at Rockefeller Center, so it manages to feel a little less like checking something off a sightseeing list and a little more like you've wandered into a New York Christmas movie.
Where to Stay: Take in Central Park from above at the Mandarin Oriental. Perched over Columbus Circle at the park’s southwest corner, Wollman Rink is within easy reach, and you’ll be just steps away from the Museum of Arts and Design and a short walk from Lincoln Center, giving you plenty to explore when you’re ready to trade your skates for a little culture.
West Village: Experience Christmas Like a Local
Once you’ve seen the tree, watched the Rockettes, and laced up your skates, it’s time to experience a quieter side of Christmas in New York. Head downtown to the West Village, where the skyscrapers give way to winding streets, historic brownstones, and some of Manhattan’s prettiest stoops, made even better when they're covered in wreaths and Christmas lights. Spend an afternoon wandering the side streets, popping into the boutiques around Bleecker and Greenwich, and admiring the neighborhood's townhouses. This is also a good place to do some actual Christmas shopping, trading Fifth Avenue's major flagships for smaller shops and finds you’re less likely to see back home. After the spectacle of Midtown, the West Village feels like discovering Christmas at the neighborhood level. Still unmistakably New York, but with a few fewer flashing lights.
Where to Stay: Tucked among the cobblestone streets and within easy reach of the West Village, the Mercer Hotel is hard to beat. Its understated, loft-like rooms put some of downtown’s best shopping, dining, and galleries just outside your door. For a 4-star stay, SoHo Grand and ModernHaus SoHo also offer stylish alternatives nearby, keeping you close to the neighborhood charm that makes downtown worth exploring.
There’s never a bad time to visit Napa, but if wine country has a main event, harvest season is it. Throughout fall, the valley comes alive as wineries race to pick grapes at their peak. By October, crush parties, grape stomps and sprawling estate celebrations are in full swing, while November offers one last chance to raise a glass to another vintage before harvest season officially winds down.If a fall trip to wine country is calling your name, here are three harvest celebrations worth planning around.
1. The Hess Collection Après Harvest Party — October 10
Napa meets the Swiss Alps at The Hess Collection’s Après Harvest Party.Founder Donald Hess brought a bit of his Swiss heritage with him when he arrived in Napa, and this year, the estate is embracing those roots with a mountain-inspired soirée that puts a European spin on the traditional harvest celebration.Think less traditional Napa harvest dinner and more chic afternoon at an Alpine chalet.
Expect schnitzel with mountain lingonberry compote, warm pretzels dipped in cheese fondue, Swiss tarts and plenty of Hess wines, while local DJ Flamingeaux transforms the courtyard into an après-worthy party.
Advisor Tip: Spend time exploring the estate's gallery. After unknowingly purchasing a Picasso, Hess began curating an extraordinary collection, which is thoughtfully displayed throughout the grounds.
2. V. Sattui Crush Party — October 16
V. Sattui is where you go when you want to experience harvest season at full volume. One of Napa Valley’s most popular wineries also throws one of its biggest harvest celebrations of the year, turning its gorgeous estate into a sprawling open house dedicated to all things crush. It’s a lively celebration that gives you a front-row seat to the energy that takes over wine country this time of year.
If Hess is the chic European soirée, V. Sattui is the blowout party of the season.
3. ZD Wines Harvest Celebration — November 14
By November, the frenzy of crush season may be winding down, but ZD Wines gives you one last reason to celebrate the vintage. The family-owned winery closes out harvest at its Rutherford Estate with an afternoon of ZD wines, live music and seasonal bites prepared by Winery Chef Jill deLeuze Billeci.
It’s a more relaxed finale to Napa’s harvest season, with less crush-day chaos, and more raising a glass to everything that just came off the vines.
Advisor Tip: Your glass does a little good, too. Half of ticket proceeds benefit the Teen Center at Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley.
If Napa is California wine country’s glamorous older sister, Paso Robles might just be the cooler younger sibling. A little more laid-back, a little less crowded, but every bit as serious about what’s in your glass.Tucked between rolling hills and California’s Central Coast, Paso is home to more than 200 wineries, with everything from intimate tasting rooms and regenerative vineyards to Michelin-starred dining and sprawling luxury estates. Better yet, its diverse microclimates allow winemakers to play with everything from Rhône varietals to bold Bordeaux-style blends.I’ve been lucky enough to sip my way through quite a few of them over the years, and while narrowing down favorites is no easy task, there are a few I find myself recommending again and again.
For the Rhône Lover: Tablas Creek Vineyard
A pioneer of Rhône varietals in California, Tablas Creek Vineyard was founded more than three decades ago through a partnership between the Haas and Perrin families, who believed the grapes they loved in France's Rhône Valley could thrive in Paso's Mediterranean climate – and they were right.
Today, the sprawling 270-acre estate produces elegant reds, whites and rosés and holds another impressive distinction: becoming the world's first Regenerative Organic Certified vineyard. Tastings range from approachable introductions to elevated Legacy Tastings for seasoned wine lovers.
Advisor Tip: Make time for a guided vineyard tour! Offered daily beginning at 10 AM, there's no additional charge beyond your tasting, making it one of the best ways to understand what makes Tablas Creek so special.
For the Full Wine-Country Experience: JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery
If you prefer your wine tasting with a side of indulgence, JUSTIN could easily occupy an entire day or night. Known for world-class Bordeaux-style blends, the estate is also home to a One-Michelin-Starred restaurant, luxury accommodations at the Just Inn, and experiences that go well beyond a traditional tasting.
Aspiring sommeliers can learn the art of blind tasting inside the Isosceles Library, while chocolate lovers can spend three hours creating and painting their own truffles before pairing them with JUSTIN wines. Prefer something outdoors? Tour the edible chef's garden with a glass of rosé before creating your own herbal tea or garden-inspired takeaway.
Advisor Tip: If you're celebrating something special, make JUSTIN your splurge stop. Pair a tasting with dinner and an overnight stay for a true wine-country escape rather than trying to squeeze the estate into an already packed tasting day.
For Wine That Does Good: Booker Vineyard
Want to feel especially good about what's in your glass? Booker Vineyard has a story as compelling as its wines. The property takes its name from Claude and Dick Booker, two orphaned brothers remembered for both their farming and philanthropy, who ultimately left their estate to charity.
That legacy continues through a commitment to thoughtfully farmed wines and environmental stewardship. The estate earned Regenerative Organic Certified® status in 2023 and focuses heavily on Rhône varietals. Its striking visitor center brings the experience underground with wine caves before opening into an indoor-outdoor tasting lounge overlooking the vineyards.
Advisor Tip: Traveling in fall? Keep an eye out for Booker's Progressive Harvest Party, a seasonal celebration pairing chef-curated dishes with some of the estate's finest wines.
For Understated Elegance: Adelaida Vineyards & Winery
High in Paso Robles' mountainous terrain, Adelaida Vineyards & Winery takes a quieter approach to wine country. Here, sustainable agriculture, dramatic landscapes, and a philosophy of letting nature guide the winemaking take precedence over flash.
Acclaimed winemaker Jeremy Weintraub has led the winemaking program since 2012, producing numerous highly rated wines that showcase the character of this distinctive corner of Paso. The result is a stop that feels refined without being overly fussy. Very Paso, if you ask me.
Advisor Tip: Don't accidentally save this one for Tuesday! Adelaida's tasting room is open Wednesday through Monday, so plan your wine-tasting itinerary accordingly.
Have you ever been inside a snow globe? The closest one could ever feel to that is floating on the Danube River on The Mozart ship (Riverside Luxury Cruises) while it dumps big, fat flakes all around you. Intertwined amongst the trees lining the river, covered in puffs of snow, small towns twinkle with Christmas lights, illuminating the ripples from the boat.
River cruises are some of the best ways to discover Europe's Christmas Markets and see the wonders of holidays. Spend your days exploring the small riverside towns, their historical sites, & romantic restaurants. In the evenings aboard the ship, start the night with Champagne in hand followed by exquisitely paired wine & food. Your night could continue with live entertainment, cocktails at the bar, or sitting on the deck watching the flickering lights go by. A balanced mix of off the beaten path and mainstream experiences that are fun for couples, small groups, and families.
Let's embark on your cruise!
Best for Christmas Market Variety & Luxury: Riverside Luxury Cruises' Holly Holiday in Germany, France & Switzerland
For travelers who want to experience how Christmas traditions change from place to place, Riverside's six-night Rhine sailing from Düsseldorf to Basel offers an impressive variety of historic markets, medieval towns, and regional flavors across Germany, France, and Switzerland.
Explore Koblenz and its Christmas market before cruising through the UNESCO-listed Rhine Gorge to Rüdesheim, where you'll sample the town's famous coffee made with German brandy, whipped cream, and chocolate. Continue to Mainz, home to one of Germany's oldest Christmas markets, followed by Frankfurt and your choice of romantic Heidelberg or Schwetzingen Palace.
The grand finale is Strasbourg, where French and German holiday traditions come together in one of Europe's most celebrated Christmas destinations. Explore its canals and cathedral or venture to medieval Obernai before returning onboard for a tasting of three styles of Glühwein paired with Christmas treats.
Personally, I can’t recommend Riverside enough. When I sailed the Danube with my sister a few years ago, everything felt incredibly personal, from the exceptional dining and intimate atmosphere to thoughtfully curated experiences like our unforgettable day wine tasting in the Wachau Valley. It’s the kind of attention to detail that makes a Riverside journey feel truly special.Advisor Tip: If Riverside's combination of luxury, exceptional dining, and intimate atmosphere sounds right for you, book early. Christmas sailings are popular, and planning ahead means better suite selection and can unlock valuable early-booking offers.
Best for Food, Wine & Festive Traditions: AmaWaterways' Magna on the Danube
For travelers who want to taste their way through the holidays, AmaWaterways' Magna on the Danube – Taste of Christmas pairs festive traditions with memorable food and wine experiences while sailing from Hungary through Austria and into Germany.
Begin in Budapest, exploring landmarks from Fisherman's Bastion to the Hungarian Parliament before heading into Austria's vineyard-lined Wachau Valley. In Dürnstein, sample local apricot liqueur, brandy, and seasonal treats before a special evening wine tasting in Spitz featuring Grüner Veltliner and Riesling.
In Linz, choose a full-day excursion to Salzburg or fairy-tale Ceský Krumlov, or stay closer to town for a guided whiskey distillery experience. The journey continues into Germany, where Bavarian traditions round out the festivities before concluding in Vilshofen.
You'll experience it all aboard AmaMagna, an unusually spacious river ship with multiple dining venues and plenty of room to unwind, making this a wonderful choice for travelers who want their Christmas cruise to be as much a culinary journey as a sightseeing adventure.
Advisor Tip: Arrive in Budapest a day early if you can. Start with breakfast at the eclectic Csendes Vintage Bar & Café, unwind at the iconic Széchenyi Thermal Bath, and toast your adventure from a rooftop igloo at High Note SkyBar.

From the first meeting on zoom, Cara was attentive and paid attention to our interests and what we were looking for in a vacation. She provided wonderful options for us to choose from after that initial meeting. We reviewed them and with her help we picked fantastic tours and activities. She gave us so many wonderful tips as far as clothes, safety, etc. She was spot on with everything!! Her recommendations for restaurants were all excellent!! We will use Cara again for our next international trip!
"Thank you Cherie! This means so much to me! I can't wait to help you on your next adventure. "
Rarely have I used a travel agent, but this time I am incredibly glad I did. Cara McBroom planned a perfect 25-day trip through France, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. I provided the core activities we wanted to do, and Cara expertly built out the agenda, suggesting some delightful additional activities along the way—including a wonderful Mozart concert. Perhaps nothing is perfect in travel, but Cara came incredibly close. Her selection of nine unbelievable hotels, seamless door-to-door transportation logistics, and amazing restaurant recommendations with delectable food were all spot on. Every single day was perfectly planned around our requested activities, and the execution was completely seamless. Cara’s meticulous attention to detail resulted in the perfect planning of a complex, multi-city, multi-activity vacation utilizing several modes of transportation. I honestly would not have believed it possible to experience zero issues on a 25-day trip covering four different countries, but Cara made it happen. Quick ratings: Best hotels (can’t pick just one, every hotel was fantastic): Omnia (Zermatt), Hotel Sacher (Vienna), and Mandarin Oriental (Luzern). Missed opportunity staying in a downtown Innsbruck hotel. Best Activities (once again too many to pick one): D-Day and the beaches of Normandy, VIP experience on the Jungfraujoch, Neuschwanstein castle, and the Mozart concert (Vienna). Best restaurants (all were fabulous): Lucide (Luzern) and Café Sacher (Vienna). I highly recommend Cara for travel planning anywhere in the world. She did an absolutely amazing job creating an unforgettable vacation for us. Thank you, Cara!
"Wow - thank you for all your detailed feedback and very kind words! I greatly appreciate you taking the time to highlight all of these places. I look forward to working with you again on your next adventure(s). Thanks again! -Cara"
Cara planned our family vacation at a guest ranch in Colorado. My experience with Cara could not have been easier nor more enjoyable. Cara is a great listener so we were able to pinpoint the exact property that fit all of our wants and needs. She was organized and communicated quickly, clearly, and efficiently. Once the trip was planned she initiated a video call with me to go over every detail of the trip. Cara even loaded our entire itinerary and documents onto an easy to use app and sent that to each of us. She provided travel and packing tips which were very helpful. I have used travel agents frequently and Cara has been the most professional, helpful, and organized agent I have worked with. It was not a matter of booking our trip and then disappearing as has been my past experience with other agents. Her level of service is unsurpassed. I look forward to working with her again. And, at the end of the day, the property she found for us could not have been more perfect.
"Thank you Monique!! There is nothing better than getting this type of positive feedback. Made my day! I can't wait to help you with your next adventure!"
I had an incredible experience planning a seven night San Francisco/wine country trip. This was a trip I wasn’t prepared to plan on my own and to add to it, I was accompanying my older parents on this adventure, so everything had to be very carefully arranged. Cara was so thorough and attentive to my requests and needs, and provided amazing choices and different experiences. We were able to put together a perfect itinerary for the seven nights. Cara took care of all reservations for meals, hotel accommodations, rental car, airline reservations, and transportation while in Sonoma and Napa, as well as other suggestions for activities, restaurants and experiences. I couldn’t be more appreciative of Cara. I’m already looking forward to planning my next trip and will certainly be reaching out to her again. if you’re going to wine country make sure you reach out to Cara to plan your vacation.
"Thank you Jon! I'm so glad you had such a great time. Can't wait to help you plan the next adventure!"
Cara was AMAZING, I cannot recommend her enough. I was totally lost when planning our family trip to Italy and Switzerland and Cara came to the rescue. She kept me on track, was incredibly responsive and had great suggestions. We had lots of moving parts, especially traveling with my dad and my 4 year old. Her hotel, restaurant and activity recommendations were so on point! Furthermore, her attention to detail and thoroughness were remarkable and I felt so relieved to have her help through every step of the process. I'm so grateful for all of her guidance.
"Thank you Molly! I'm so glad you had sucha great time. I look forward to helping you plan all your future adventures!"
My wife, our two sons, and I had never been to Europe before and we felt like Italy would be a great start. Cara helped plan a dream vacation to Rome, Naples, Florence, Pisa, and Luca that exceeded all our dreams. We are an active family and Cara put together an itinerary that was customized to our interests. She was patient in answering all of our questions and made excellent recommendations to guide us on our first European adventure. She is truly a dining expert and the restaurants she scheduled were amazing. For anyone who is a foodie she is a dream agent with all her knowledge of the local cuisines and wines. The flight arrangements, guides, transportation, dining reservations, and hotel accommodations went off without the slightest bump in the road. 5 star planning down to the last detail. We could have never planned this trip on our own and we are eternally grateful to Cara for helping our family create lifelong memories.
Cara is seriously the best travel agent! My wife and I asked her to organize a 3 week multi-country vacation in Europe. It was kind of last minute but Cara was more than up for the challenge. We went to Munich, Germany, Salzburg and Vienna, Austria, Prague, Czech Republic, Lausanne and Zurich, Switzerland. There were so many moving parts like train rides, flights, hotels, excursions, and travel guides. I did not expect to move through this entire trip without a single hiccup, but somehow we did. Cara was meticulous and made our travels so easy! We did so many fun things such as Neuschwanstein Castle, Sound of Music private tour, wine tasting in Wachau Valley, symphony, opera, beer and food walking private tour, a beautiful private tour to Interlaken, tour of Lavaux vineyards, and so much more. We ate so much great food and Cara set up so many great reservations including a two star Michelin restaurant! This was a trip of a lifetime and Cara made this possible!
"Thank you Megan & Jess! I'm so glad the trip worked out so well and you enjoyed yourself that much. I can't wait to help you plan your next adventure."
Cara planned an incredible Napa trip for us! Every aspect of the trip was seamless, intentional, and perfectly matched to what we enjoy. She put together an amazing mix of wineries including, Elyse Winery, Alpha Omega, Promontory and many others. Showcasing a great variety of wines and beautiful settings in her selections. The restaurant picks were just as good; Scala and Bouchon Bistro were both highlights and perfectly suited to our taste. What really stood out was how easy she made everything. The timing of each event and the flow of each day; it all just worked. We didn’t have to think about a thing. Cara’s ability to plan the perfect trip is unmatched! No notes!
"Thank you Leslie! So glad you enjoyed your trip to Napa, Napa!"
Cara has helped me plan trips out West before, so when it came up that she also knew New York City, I thought she might be able to help with a long weekend there. What I didn’t realize is that she’s truly an expert. She planned a spectacular trip that struck the perfect balance, packed with great experiences but never overwhelming. We were able to enjoy so much of the city without the stress of coordinating details, reservations, or logistics. Cara handled everything and made the whole process feel effortless. I highly recommend working with her.
Outstanding experience working with Cara from start to finish. First time to get someone with her expertise involved in something this big and personal at so many levels from 22 months to 75 years. It went smoothly and expedited flawlessly with Cara’s guidance and assistance. Everyone had a great trip with many lasting memories! Cudos!!
